Icon4 Is this game challenging enough?

I wanna download this mod but Im skeptical about Kingdoms mods. I used to play Roma Surrectum and SPQR Total War so I prefer it where your able to build large armies very quickly, I like big battles. I remember some units in this game take 3 turns to make! Thats just unacceptable, and what about mercenaries? Can you get mercenaries in this?

    Also is it challenging enough?

Maybe you must continue with RS and SPQR. I donīt think youīll be confortable with the 4 turns ogres and the long time to build your cities. Maybe isnīt the mod for you.
I think I lost something in the traduction (my english is far from good) but your tone is something agresive. Maybe Iīm wrong but... Unacceptable...? Dude, this people put a lot (a huge) amount of time doing this wonderful mod, maybe you need to try play the mod first and then post your opinion and not demand changes because you are a super-gamer.

Right now in my campaign I'm running around with four or five full stack armies. Yes, demons, elite knights, or other very expensive, hardcore units will take more turns to produce. Generally your basic mainstay of your armies will take one turn to recruit, some being two. This really isn't an issue, due to all of the recruitment slows. You will have no issue using huge armies to sweep over the lands, especially as one of the richer factions, like Reikland.

The campaign itself is challenging, for the right reasons in my opinion. Generally, with some thought and planning you are given the resources to counter what is thrown at you on the campaign map, although it can get a little tricky at times, which is good. Lots of big battles.

On the other hand the battles are challenging at times, but for the wrong reasons. Balancing is all over the place and the A.I only presents a challenge on the battlefield because of a small amount of overpowered units such as ogres and trolls and the many mage type units included in a lot of the invasion scripts.

Battle balancing and it appears the game of warhammer itself is not the CoW teams forte, but overall the mod is superb and nothing else compares in my opinion.

    Two words :
    CHAOS STORM .

Well Chaos Storm is not that intresting, wiping out dozens of enemy stacks... Endless massacres and Heroic Victories. Enourmous battles is cool anyways.

People like Bellus should take their medication and stop trolling amound TW forums. There is Call of Duty, Battlefield etc. out there.

Call of Warhammer is a truly great mod and fairly fast paced (almost too fast, but not something that ruins the lore..).

As Reiksfart said the balancing is bad, hundreds of small mistakes (spelling errors, wrong language, lacking descriptions for units, different quality of skins, some useless (or unfinished) factions etc.

If you have played TATW, do not compare it with CoW. Then again CoW has a lot of intresting units, the setting and some breaktroughs regarding modding the game.

Gigantus has taken the time to repair some of it, so this is the best you will get out of CoW, for now.

TATW yes do not compare it to COW TATW is polished well done beautiful, and most of all, boring. COW makes the game interesting by VER diverse units in different factions, and amazing scripts that leave a major battle not more then a turn or 2 away.

thats coming from a once die hard TATW fan.

As mods go, Call of Warhammer tends to be fast-paced with large-scale battles featuring high-quality units from the start. There's no slow build-up, no endless waits to get your elite units or battles fought with only militia.

That said, elite units are carefully balanced by slow replenishment rates and long recruiting times, so you can't spam units like Empire Knightly orders. If you want to quickly train an army of regular troops though, you can. Big settlements can train five units a turn.

You can get a few mercenaries but only low-level militias. Skilled mercenaries appear randomly through events and can then be trained in special "dogs of war" camps just like other units. There's a lot of variety here if you play an Empire faction, though other factions only get a few regiment offers.

No other game/mod has executed mercenaries so well as Call of Warhammer.

Also, militias as regular click & hire mercenaries? Why was I not informed?

Well I know I can count on Mercs to make my huge massive armies right? I just wanna recruit some in my city then make one of my Generals go out and recruit a bunch of Mercs.

Reiksfart's description is spot on. Tbh I know the mod size might put you off but I would download and try it and see for yourself. Play an Empire faction if you really want to see how Mercenaries should be implemented in other mods.
