Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
hi,
ive almost finished planning my mod, looking for anyone willing to help with scripting, 3D modelling, Textures.
Mod Overview
The Knights Templar were often entrusted by kings of great empires to protect powerful and holy artifacts.
This mod will add these artifacts to the game giving the owner faction a bonus affiliated with them.
As a add game mechanic the Knights Templar who consider themselves angels and gaurdians of heaven will do everything in there power to reclaim these artifacts from factions that shouldnt possess them (similar to the crusades/jihad element)
The first problem was how to implement these items to the game, rather than write an old thread down ill post the link to the thread to show proposal of how to achieve this
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=524799
any ideas, thoughts and suggestions welcome
please contact me if you wish to help or contribute in anyway, ive never made a mod for the total war series but i have made mods for Civilization 3, Civilization 4 and Fifa manager 2007 and 2008 and im looking for a new challenge!

Re: Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
Proposed Relics
Staff of Moses
Ark of the Covenant
Excalibur
Spear of Destiny
The Shroud of Turin
The Holy Grail
Relic of the tooth of the Buddha
The True Cross
Sword of Ali
Solomons Ring
i dont want to bombard the game with too many relics and would like to make the chances of finding one of these relics 1/150 say, it would be unfair for a faction to gain possesion of all these relics, and not every faction should possess a relic. the idea of the mod is to run as a small side quest of the main campaign

Staff of Moses
According to the Book of Exodus in the Bible, the staff used by Moses (called a rod in the King James Bible) was by his side throughout important milestones in the narrative. Amongst these milestone events or "miracles of the exodus" the bible describes that the staff was used to produce water from a rock, invoke plagues on the Egyptians, and on several occasion was transformed into a snake and back.
Bonus for faction that possesses relic
Increased farm production, and double that bonus for desert settlements

The Ark of the Covenant
For centuries, people have tried in vain to locate and recover the Bible's most sacred objects. Among the most sought-after of these religious antiquities is the famed Ark of the Covenant.
This legendary artifact is the ornate, gilded case built some 3,000 years ago by the Israelites to house the stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were written. Biblical accounts describe the Ark as large, about the size of a 19th-century seaman's chest, made of gold-plated wood, and topped with two large, golden angels. It was carried using poles inserted through rings on its sides.
The Ark has been linked to several of the Old Testament's miracles. It was carried before the Israelites during the Exodus and is said to have cleared impediments and poisonous animals from their path. When the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, the Bible says that the river stopped flowing the moment the Ark-bearers set foot in it.
And when the Israelites besieged Jericho, they carried the Ark around the city for a week, blowing trumpets until, on the seventh day, the walls fell down, allowing easy conquest.
But in 597 and 586 B.C., the Babylonian Empire conquered the Israelites, and the Ark, at the time supposedly stored in the Temple in Jerusalem, vanished from history. Destroyed? Captured? Hidden? Nobody knows.
Bonus for faction that possesses relic
as this is such a powerful relic im still deciding 1 of 2 ideas bare in mind although the first would be so cool it would push away from the historical and push the game slightly more towards the fantasy side.
1. A super unit " the Arc that fires lightning at th enemy, you would not be able to command the ark it would sporadically fire at enemy units, it would have the same damage as the cannons.
or slightly less exciting but not so sci-fi
2. As the Ark contained the 10 commandments, all buildings that give a order bonus due to law would be doubled

Re: Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
Excalibur
Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur, sometimes attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Great Britain. Sometimes Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone (the proof of Arthur's lineage) are said to be the same weapon, but in most versions they are considered separate. The sword was associated with the Arthurian legend very early. In Welsh, the sword is called Caledfwlch.

Spear of Destiny
The Holy Lance (also known as the Spear of Destiny, Holy Spear, Lance of Longinus, Spear of Longinus or Spear of Christ) is the name given to the lance that pierced Jesus' side as he hung on the cross in John's account of the Crucifixion.
Bonus for faction that possesses relic
Bear in mind that every king, ruler in history that has had the spear has went on to command a superpower, so no ideas how to implement this into the game, prehaps make this relic the hardest to obtain and give the biggest bonus. any ideas welcome

The Shroud of Turin
The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. A man that millions believe to be Jesus of Nazareth. Is it really the cloth that wrapped his crucified body

Re: Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
The Holy Grail
The Holy Grail is a sacred object figuring in literature and certain Christian traditions, most often identified with the dish, plate, or cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper and is said to possess miraculous powers. The connection of Joseph of Arimathea with the Grail legend dates from Robert de Boron's Joseph d'Arimathie (late 12th century) in which Joseph receives the Grail from an apparition of Jesus and sends it with his followers to Great Britain; building upon this theme, later writers recounted how Joseph used the Grail to catch Christ's blood while interring him and that in Britain he founded a line of guardians to keep it safe. The quest for the Holy Grail makes up an important segment of the Arthurian cycle, appearing first in works by Chrétien de Troyes.[1] The legend may combine Christian lore with a Celtic myth of a cauldron endowed with special powers.

Re: Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
The Tooth of Buddha
A belief grew that whoever possessed the Sacred Tooth Relic had a divine right to rule that land. Wars were fought to take possession of the relic. 800 years after the Buddha's death, in the 4th century CE, the tooth came into the possession of King Guhaseeva of Kalinga, which roughly corresponds to the present day state of Orissa.
Kalinga had become Buddhist and begun to worship the Sacred Tooth relic. This caused discontent among some of the citizens, who went to King Paandu and said that King Guhaseeva had stopped believing in god and that he had started to worship a tooth. King Paandu decided to destroy the relic, and ordered it to be brought to the city. It is said that, as the tooth arrived at the city, a miracle occurred, and King Paandu converted to Buddhism
Bonus for faction that possesses relic
50% religious conversion bonus

Sword of Ali
In the Battle of Uhud, Ali fought in defense of Muhammad, and due to his strength, and that of the sword, repeatedly shattered the swords of his enemies. Muhammad prayed for Ali, "O God you gave power to Ali now give the weapon yourself". In Shia tradition, some believe Zulfiqar was passed down to Ali's sons Hassan and Hussain. According to the Twelver Shia, Zulfiqar is currently in the possession of Imam AlQaim Mahdi.
Bonus for faction that possesses relic
This relic in the hands of a catholic faction will start a jihad against this faction by all muslim factions

Re: Knights of the Templars Gaurdians of the Holy Relics Mod
Some of these ideas are nice, but some others don't really fit, or can't be implemented that way. You can't stop a general's aging process, so the Holy Grail can't work as you intended. The tooth of Buddha is, well, the tooth of Buddha. It is not likely to be in Europe or the Middle East. And as there is no buddhistic religion (unless you use an already existing mod as a base), the conversion bonus wouldn't make much sense, either. And there were actually many shards of the true cross. Every (catholic) church needs an artifact, and many churches have a shard of the cross. And they would not have an effect on the priests' attitude towards fighting.
Anyway, what for do you need 3D modelling? Templars can be taken from the crusades campaign, and priests (if they are really to be implemented) are available in the teutonic campaign.
Also, a unit attacking enemies withou requiring you to tell it so is EXTREMELY hard to create. I suppose only people like Germanicu5 could dare trying that. Anyway, it would contradict the bible. It says that the ark of the covenant would kill anyone touching it, but not doing anything besides that.
btw: The ark exists in the crusades campaign. Your general gets it when conquering Alexandria or Kairo (don't know which one). I think that it is retarded the way CA did it, but it could help you with your concept.
