The Collegiae Strike
On a dark night in the middle of a cold February night, Consul Lucius Libanus, without any of his tokens of office, knocks upon the door of a shady brothel. He is granted entrance immediately and seeks out the proprietor of the establishment.
"Rufus, what a pleasure to see you."
The man called Rufus mock bowed to the consul
Ah, Libanus. We haven't seen you here in quite some time. Aiming to engage our services, are ye?
Lucius chuckled darkly and threw a tinkling pouch onto the counter.
I have a problem, Rufus, and he is a tribune by the name of Titus. He has proposed some legislation that I simply...cannot stomach. Can you help me with my problem?
Rufus took the pouch into his dirty hands and opened it, smiling at the silver found within.
The guild is at your service, Consul...

Meanwhile in Rome....
As the area near the Esquiline hill erupted into violence, Lucius quickly made his way back to the Palatine. Of course he could not be linked to the violence, but it was good enough for him to know that the patrician bloc was fighting back against the detrimental legislation of the Concilium Plebis.
The gathering crowd gathers clubs and small knives and make their way to the forum. As evening set in, several small fires were started as the mob made its way through the eastern part of the city. Reaching the house of the Marcelii, they shouted insults and jeers at the home of the tribune, but did not storm into the house or attempt to burn it down. Some stayed outside the house of the tribune, clearly attempting to intimidate him, while others continued to the forum to break up any groups of plebs along the way.
Several men were beaten the death and laid bleeding in the Forum Aemelia, directly across from the Curia. In the terror the Concilium Plebis was disbanded, and likely would not be able to meet again for the remainder of the year for fear of continued violence.

Re: The Collegiae Strike
As the killings begin to come to a close, a final tally of the violence has revealed that 4,141 have been killed in the forum and surrounding neighborhoods. Terror grips Rome as the gangs rove the streets, lynching any that supported the tribune's recent bills and ransacking their property. After the initial wave of attacks the gangs settled down, contenting themselves to hanging around on street corners, behaving menacingly.
