Stand-alone?
Well, I don't necessarily like all of the 5.0 upgrades from 4.0, but I suppose they are pretty cool. And IMO, Rome still has way too many units at their expousal - it's like trying to pick out your favorite candy from 1,000's of favorites before your eyes. But, I decided to revisit 5.0 to do something to it. Right now I'm working on a "standalone" edition - one which won't alter the standard data or BI files at all, but instead will be a separate folder, and RTW will treat it as a "separate" mod. You would still need BI 1.6 at least, you would need to install it over a "clean" version, although it may be able to "get around it," and you wouldn't have to worry about your saved games - you could transfer them, or you could start out with your saved games in the proper folder. Best of all - you could switch between vanilla BI (or another mod) and Attila's great IBFD, checking out the diff's without any worries.
The file size will probably be approximately the same size the download already is - there is an exception though...so keep reading...
In order to properly be able to do this, files need to be "copied" from existing folders - so although I could probably make the download approximately the same size - you would need probably a 1gb of free space on your computer where RTW is installed. And this wouldn't be ready right-a-way, but my timeframes are very reasonable if you are interested.
If anyone is interested - please reply here. I won't release this version, and maybe not work further on creating it, unless someone is interested. It will be easy, I might add too - I only release exe's (similar to what Attila and the others have caught onto now - which I'm glad to see).
Safe Journey my fellow IBF'ers!

P.S. The biggest benefit would be the ability to uninstall this mod or check it out without having to make a commitment of keeping it on your system - this means if you have any problems or for some reason don't like it, you could easily not worry about your RTW:BI being affected and simply revert back to it.

Well friend, I know it has been a while, and I'm sorry for taking so long - but I was just putting it off. Doesn't really seem like anyone is interested. Anyways - I did decide to go ahead and work on it though. I believe it's about 30% done now. It says I keep having problems with the "export_descr_buildings.txt" file, unfortunately. :-( Other than that though, I'm hoping I won't have many more problems - which I know I'm bound for another one or two once this is fixed. Trust me, things like this always happen when you're trying something "new."
later & I hope to have it out within a week or two,
Gersh
