    Default Timurid elephants

How do you kill them? Ballistae- and cannon towers do a good job, but what else? Flamed arrows do not seem to do a thing to them. Are javeliners (or Almughavars) better?

EDIT: Just after posting this, three of my Balkan archers managed to make an elephant unit to rout.

Javelin cavalry (Jinetes, Boyar Sons, Polish Nobles). 1 unit of Polish Nobles can kill up to 2 units of Timurid elephants.

Naffatuns are 1-hit kill against elephants. But due to their short range, you'll probably need an elevation advantage to get within range of the elephants.

    Elephant-killers:

    1. Artillery
    2. Naffatun
    3. Javelin

Now all that's left is for you to figure out how to use them without getting stomped

Almughavars, Javelinmen, Catalans, Turkish Javelinmen, Sudanese Javelinmen, Kurdish Javelinmen, Afghan Javelinmen, Irish Kerns and Lusitanian Javelinmen get bonuses versus elephants.

Most cavalry including javelin cavalry, get penalties versus elephants.

Crossbowmen has high, armour piercing attack which makes them suitable for countering any heavy troops, including elephants.
Bowmen have flaming arrows which are inaccurate, but makes the elephants likely to run amok.
Javeliners (both mounted and on foot) utilize heavy missiles that are very effective against heavy troops, including elephants.
Gunners use weapons that are both powerful and noisy/smoky, making them good at causing damage to heavy troops and likely to scare the elephants into running amok.
Naffatun are few in numbers and short on range, but their attacks are very accurate and very powerful - the fire may also scare elephants into running amok.
Artillery uses incredibly powerful attacks that (if they hit) causes instant death to almost anything, even elephants.
Large numbers of spearmen can easily engulf the elephants, impeding their movement, and skewer them to death - although a good dozen will get crushed when the elephants fall...

Thanks, guys, but I haven't seen any more elephants since that siege. Maybe they've already gotten extinct...
