Where is a Saddam when you need him?The funny thing is that i read an article about how Al Qaeda moved to syria to support the uprising there reducing the violence.I blame Al Maliqi for this since he wants to turn Iraq to a shia dictatorship

while i do believe Saddam was better than what is happening today, i dont think i would like to see him back, though then again, the only way i see this issue being resolved is through military dictatorship
The US will gladly step up to become the world police when there is oil involved, yet they will resign the second there is a genocide in Africa, a slaughter in an allied nation, or a massacre committed by dictators, all who's nations have nothing to offer, but the gratitude of the people to the international community for reaching out.

By "leaving early" of course you mean leaving when asked to by a legitimate authority. Perhaps by "mad" you meant "informed".

Also, 1991 was the UN there, bud. We just did most of the fighting (as usual).

Oh, s.rwitt, puh-lease. Desert Storm was a UN-sanctioned invasion, but the troops on the ground were not fighting as UN forces. None of the soldiers there wore blue helmets. As happened last year in Lybia, the US and allies pretty much ignored the vaguely-worded UNSC Resolution 678 from the start and waged war as they saw fit. That was probably a wise decision back then, since the UN has proven itself wholly inept in dealing with war and genocide.

I'm not condemning the invasion per se, but it was not a UN effort selflessly supported by the US Armed Forces. In fact, as I've repeatedly said in other threads about UN interventions, the US actually contributes very little to peace efforts and peacekeeping missions (wikipedia and un.org both have the charts), considering the fact that America is the world's leading military power.

So bascily the US cannot do anything that you'd approve of then. When the US didn't topple him, that was wrong and when they finally did, that's wrong as well. So what exactly should the US have done then? Not toppling him at all? You'd probably criticize that as well. Personally I think the US should have toppled Saddam in 1991, but it didn't happen and there's nothing that can be done to alter that. It's too bad it didn't happen, but that's about it.

By the way, that would mean I'm a mad person. Perhaps such blatant and frankly quite idiotic statements should be left out of the discussion?

It's impossible to support the UK they punished germany into depression and created Hitler, created arbitrary colonial borders resulting in genocide of millions, they angered arabs by playing colonial with the middle east after WW1 ans WW2, refused to help settle issues in India just disposing of the country and putting an inept royal in charge resulting in wars and hatred, and violently punished the Chinese resulting in nation enslavement and communism and to this day they still are involved in EVERYTHING the US is. What a morally bankrupt nation and people these Brits are.

Stop sticking your nose in the air with fake moral smugness when your nation is identical. Even today.

If you deny willing participation guess its time to admit your nation is a US puppet slave state. Controlled from top to bottom.

I thought a good chunk of the world hated US foreign policy, including a sizable portion of the American populace.

What I don't get is where are these whining euros at the polls? They and whine like girls on this site either as extremist bleeding hearts who probably think animals should have the same rights as people or jealous nationalists pissed off their country is not relevant. Come election time they elect entire governments who are SLAVISH to US policy.

ESPECIALLY the UK, at least the French have balls
    .....
Not lately though. Sarkozy is an american style politician slavish to the US as well. They chose that. Yet come here and blame the US for policy they confirmed their support for using their votes.

Goes to show those who post on this site are detached fringe extremists. Which is fact since Ron Paul won the 08 election on this site.
