Ruling from a non family member
I was wondering if anyone has tried or what do players here think about playing BI from the eyes of one of their generals(a non family member) and not from their factions king or other governors.
I modded a game with Ice Torques warmap and Attila's reloaded units and added 6 provinces in Britain. ( 461ad) I settled the Saxons in two of them and created several a sub Romano rebel settlements...for instance Strathclyde is one. I created a Vortigern British family tree with the surname Wledic and created 5 non family members(named characters so portraits would show) with varying surnames such as Draco and of the Lothian.
One of these non family members I gave my own name with the hope of becoming part of the royal family. This I know can occur through a military victory along with a need for a family member to adopt. But the only decisions I allow myself to make are from the army and province that I am currently ruling. The King of my faction is under the control of the almighty computer so I have no control over him. If I conquer another factions province then I allow myself to rule this second one and ect...
I gave my general (me)the ancillary office_dux_britannium because there needs justification in controlling my rulers army when we are under the same flag. Governors outside of my controlled provinces can only defend and battles are decided by the AI. unless the province was under my control..then its up to me..
