Default Retreat from battle and mining .....

Couple of questions dear gamers ......

    1. How is it possible to sound a general retreat off the map during a battle ?
I have experienced the AI retreating when they don't like to look of my legions marching down upon them , but I can't work out how the player can do it , even if I press the white flag button. ( not that I would retreat of course, coff coff )

    2. With mining and RTR I am assuming that the mining income is now lumped in with the trade figure ??
Dose this make 'mining traits' and retinue with mining bonuses obsolete ?
( because when I position a leader or retinue in a town with mining they appear to have no effect).

I'm not sure of the answer to #2, but to #1: select all of your units and then press the 'w' key. Note, however, that sometimes your troops will withdraw in a very stupid direction. Unfortunately, this is hardcoded and so cannot be modded.

As far as I know, the mining is indeed included in the trade figure. Because of that, it will have more influence on your income to make it more in line with the other industries. I don't think that the settlement tables are a good instrument to measure the effect of certain upgrades, it's probably better to look at the trade figure in the general financial overview. The traits are supposed to have an effect on the income.
