    Default A few questions...

    • If my que's continue to stall what cause of action should I take?
    • If I have been told to join a crusade early on in the game should I ignore it and work on building reputation later?
    • Also where should I go first? The Moors or Portugal Or France (I'm playing an Spain).

    Assuming you're playing as Spain:

    1) Remember to build ports and roads first in both settlements first, and to only build/recruit what you need. Oh, and build all buildings on e at a time at the start. I find that helps to regulate my finances.
    2) Join it. You can grab your biggest army and sail to the Holy Lands (or wherever) on a cheap merc galley. Only send one FM though. Join the others at the last possible moment and they will still get the benefits of going.
    3) I go for the Moors, and then backstab Portugal, but that's just my strategy.

    - If you have a somewhat capable army and treasure you could do it. But check first if the town itself is heavily defended or not. Most of the time, when there is just one unit or something, it stays that way. So if you decide to do so, send a general with enough troops and hire some mercenaries. It wil do fine. Once you are there you can build a real army because you'll probably have enough time because the city will most-likely be rebel.

    - I'd say Portugal as a first target. In my game I waited with them and they came with a lot of jinetes while I had most footunits and medium cavalry. So I run after them, they run away and it won't end soon. Also, they captured Toledo from me and when they had it secured it took me 4 battles to recapture it. But you can also alliance with Portugal and fight on with the Moors.

I should wait before attacking France, better secure Spain first.

As Spain, your first goal should be to secure Iberia for yourself, ally with France and leave them alone until your Reconquista is done. Ally the Portuguese against the Moors, ignore the crusade, as Spain you have excellent opportunities to gain Papal influence, since you'll have to convert Iberia and the Moorish lands of Africa, which will give you additional cardinals through time. A tip is to spam priests. After the Moors are getting weaker, Portugal will almost definitely betray you, and then you just defeat them, that can prove hard since their early units are better tha yours. Then, when you've defeated Moors and Portugal, secure Timbuktu and Arguin for great trade reseources. Depending on your relations with France, you might want to strengthen that border, however, in my Spanish campaign, it put a lot of effort to keep my relations with France at top, since I aimed for Africa and wanted to avoid a two-front-war. Send missionaries to other African territories, converting pagan and muslim territories will give you many cardinals, thus increasing your Papal influence, so you can decide where and when the next crusade is going to take place. You will get trouble with Sicily but they are according to my experiences, easy to take down, since they have direct borders with the Papal States, they're prone to get in trouble with him, so they might even be excommunicated on this stage. If so, you can arrange a crusade against a Sicilian settlement, that will be a super move to boost your reputation.

The Portugese expanded into Spain so I allyes the Moors and attacked them. I think I might just backstab the Moors later then establish a decent army and march for France.

If your building queues are stalled, you have run out of money so you have to conquer some more territory, disband troops, or simply remove items from your building queues and recruitment queues. Although it is easier to manage your building queues by going through the list of completions at the start of the turn, when your queue is stalled it may be better to

    1. remove all buildings from all queues that are showing red and all buildings after them, too. Then go through the buidlings that are green and decide which ones you really need, remove the others.

    2. Savagely cut back on your recruitment queues - troops get paid first, buildings second

    3. Now you should have some money left to spend. You can go back and build some more troops or buildings, but don't put any more in the queues past this turn's allocation

    4. Next turn, your building queue won't be stalled and you should have some spare money. Now (assuming you are not a pillager) it is important to be able to repair damage done during sieges and build something like a church immediately so if you are going to conquer some settlements this turn, don't spend any money (recruiting or building) until you have taken the settlements. That way you can afford the repairs and new buildings in the settlements and can move on from them sooner - you need to repair such things as walls immediately as otherwise you will find it hard to stop rebellions.

Your queues are stalled because of no cash flow (O.K., you knew that).

The underlying problem is that you have too few territories and too many troops. In other words: your troop/income ratio is too high. To reduce the troop/income ratio:

    1.) Get rid of troops.

    2.) Get more territories.

3.) Develop the economic building of the territories you have.

    4.) Raise taxes.

The easiest way to simultaneously accomplish objectives 1 and 2 is to go conquer a settlement. You will lose troops and gain a territory, all in one fell swoop.

Even if you have a disasterous defeat, you will still accomplish number 1. I noticed first in RTW (and it applies in M2TW) that the best thing I could do for my finances was to suffer a large scale crushing defeat.

    I hope that helps.
