I have currently played as England and France and niether have appealed to me. Could someone recommend a faction to me that is fun to play as. Please recommend out of the following: The Holy Roman Empire, Venice or Spain.

I've only played as England and Spain, so I'd recommend Spain. My next Catholic faction will probably be either Milan or Venice.
I've played just HRE from the three you pointed. It was fun indeed, but depends what you consider fun. Some people might consider being at war against 8 enemies at once stressful and not funny. If you like to truly be in "total war", choose HRE.
I also recommend Spain. I'm playing as it right now. Good units, good naval units and a good starting position. Portugal will try to expand into your territory and get an alliance with the Moors. So you are going to be busy for a while. Then, after you have slayed Portugal, you can attack the Moors. And the best part, you won't get in trouble with the pope from attacking the Moors. After that there is always France at your borders.

Thanks I'll start a campaign with Spane right now. I don't really want to be HRE judging that I have been playing as Brutii, Scipii and Julii for a while.

Russia. Beware though, as it can get hard bcz of mongols and timurids later.
Venice, it's awesome.
If England and France were not appealing to you...
I don't see how Spain will be any better - you spend a far longer amount of time in the beginning with the same type of issues that Eng/Frc have, and a sort of lousy unit roster. They get great in the high/late period tho.
Try playing as Byzantium, Egypt, or Moors -- no pope, solid rosters, good locations, etc.
Of the possible starting factions, Spain is the best bet if you didn't enjoy France or England. HRE is going to play very similar to the first two for much of the game, and Venice has a slightly problematic starting position if you are new to the game. Spain has one of the best starting locations, an infidel enemy to defeat in the popes name, and eventually a rather funky unit roster.
Venice is awesome indeed
Venice is the best out of the listed factions, but if you're going Italian you may as well go for Milan - those guys are absolute beasts. They have the best crossbows in the game, they get musketeers, they have the ever awesome Italian spear militia, and Broken Lances mean that unless you're looking for mounted crossbows, you never have to build a castle
I don't think he has unlocked any other faction seeing he said the standard factions.
You can easily unlock the other factions, it's like 10 seconds of work.![]()
Just played as Venice on normall... Lost Venice due to siege and excommunicated myself out of rage.

If you're looking for something different but still Christian, I'd recommend Hungary.militia at the beginning, but you have rich Byzantine lands below you. Kinda hard start, depending on what you decide to do, but can pay off big time once you take Thessalonica and Constantinople.
Step 1 as Venice is buy Bologna for 5000 florins.
