    Default Should I get M2TW

I currently have RTW and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile for me to get M2TW? I've played it at a friends house and the horses seemed to be going in slow motion, might of been the graphic settings but anyway was just wondering if it would be worth my time?

If you have enough power to get it working properly (and it takes quite a bit), get it. Even the low end of the graphics are superior to RTW.

It took me 9 months to bring the settings down, but when I did, the game felt great. If most of the units are slightly slower, it's because they are bringing more armour and heavier weapons to battle with them (a medieval knight could weight up to half a Citroen 2CV).

Plus, you get to go on crusades, jihads, you get merchants, princesses, assassin videos...
(And Stainless Steel and Third Age TW, the best Total War mods out there.)

I would rate it as well as RTW. Even though RTW is probably easier to play.

no, this is not the reason, the game is simply slow paced; but it's fun once you get used to it (unlike the majority, I didn't had problems adapting from the fast paced RTW to the slow paced M2TW)
the graphics are indeed great even if the game is from 2007, you should totaly buy it, I don't play RTW anymore because of M2TW, when I'll get bored of M2TW I'll go back to RTW (but it's gonna take a while since I started playing SS6.4 almost 1 month ago and it's pretty sweet)

Yes get Medieval 2! But, if you like Medieval 2 and Rome, don't get Empire. (I loved M2TW and RTW, but hated Empire, waste of my money, and I'm a teenager too and have to buy all of my gaming stuff)

Well if you can't run Medieval 2, forget Empire and Shogun 2, as they seem to be power-eaters.
    (And they need Steam ...)

In case you are going to buy it consider to get the kingdoms expansion too.

Most of the mods require kingdoms (Third age for example does).

Yeah I am going to get kingdoms as I use steam and it is same price for both as it is just for M2TW.

@The King of Fairies I can run Medieval 2 and I could probably play Empire but my former post was in reference to Shogun 2.

I wouldnt get the Steam version if your interested in playing mods. Seems like a pain to get any mods working with Steam M2TW.

Yeah, I've bought all of my games from Amazon, except Empire, which I regret buying new. (Why didn't I buy Rage with that Best Buy gift card, it's been so long since I've played a great FPS game by ID, like Doom or Quake, and Rage seems like a huge upgrade)

Yes you should definitely get M2TW/Kingdoms mainly because it has some really great mods you can use with it....I've tried Stainless Steel, Third Age, Call of Warhammer, Broken Crescent and Thera over the years and they were all great.
However, get the CD version of the game (Medieval Gold) in preference to the Steam version if you can because it makes setting up mods a lot easier.

Depends what you like though. A lot of the mods are slower paced and more realistic which many people prefer but if you like faster more arcade-like TW games then unmodded Napoleon or Shogun 2 might be right up your street.
And someone said Empire is a waste of money, well it's pretty good with Darthmod added actually.

You can train three units at the same time, but there is a pool for each troop. Say there is five knights and you recruit all five, you can't get more until the pool gets more.
