    Default Neverending Hordes

I've kicked the storm of chaos armies out of my empire (i'm playing as reikland) and used the invasion to expand my borders... Well, by now i have cities everywhere, from the orc's deserts till the dark elves camp. Decided to get rid of chaos once and for all i gathered all the armies (or at least 80% of all my troops) and launched the decisive campaing against chaos and blablabla. Well, everything was going well until beastmens, orcs and sylvanian's armies started to appear again on my map... Unable to bring the troops back I just lost my lands in the orc desert and... whatever, my question is: until when i will need to fight against already dead factions. I mean, if theres a scripted cycle or they will spawn in random rates (so i can prepare)

Well, already thanks and sorry for the bad english

Scripted armies tend to appear in the least suitable moment.

I've never eliminated the Orcs and so never had a need to deal with scripted resurgences, but against Sylvania all you really need is to put a strong garrison in castle Drakenhof. Undead aren't very good at sieges. Their catapults are weak in particular. Make sure to have a few units of archers to put stakes in the way of enemy cavalry, a mortar or two for counter-battery fire or to shoot siege-towers if they have them, (but I don't think the script gives them any) one or two cavalry units to sally out and fill the rest of the slots with spearmen (for the free upkeep) and halberdiers. In a settlement like Drakenhof you should only have to pay upkeep for about half those units, so it's an affordable safeguard.

For Sylvania there is usually an immediate spawn when the faction is killed then smaller random spawns thereafter if you defeat the first. Beastmen are similar. I haven't ever completely killed Orcs as its just too far to march and they get such huge reinforcements that unless you are Dwarves or particularly hate Orcs there isn't much chance to eliminate all their settlements before they get massive stacks.

Don't eliminate them, just cripple them.

i see... well the beastemen always spawn a fullstack with good experience and minotaurs. Sylvania wasnt a problem, but the orcs... When they spawned 'from the dead' it was a full horde with 4 stacks. As I said, I was in my campaing against chaos (60+ armies) and couldnt react properly. Anyway, I assemble a new army, wich crippled my economy, but it was enough. Now the campaing has ended, but it was nice to see that orcs, beastmen, sylvania (and maybe chaos?) have spawning armies that make things never so "sure" heheheh

I was playing VH/VH at the time, it could have, somehow, influenced the spawning rate?

Well, consider that the CoW campaign map covers something like a tenth of the world, not including those neighbouring regions that are chock full of Orcs... and you realise that "defeating" the Orcs on the campaign map by no means indicates you've made an impression on the world-wide Orc population. So it's a cool feature, I think.

Not sure about game-difficulty influencing spawning, though. Could be.
