Gotye?

Just heard a song by Gotye...Somebody I Used to Know

Find it remarkable and stands out from the stagnant drudgery that is contemporary music. I love Peter Gabriel and find it hugely reminiscent of his sound.

Give it until 1:30 as it's not necessarily what you might take it to be on first impression...

Ofcourse, I'm Belgian, so it may be possible that we heard it before the rest of the world, but it's probably already a year old. Nevertheless I think it's a pretty solid song.

On 1 February 2012, Gotye made his American television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing "Eyes Wide Open", "Somebody That I Used to Know" with Kimbra and "State of The Art". Soon after that month, on 12 February, Gotye's single "Somebody That I Used to Know" reached #1 on the UK Singles chart.

Ah, I see. Yeah, in Belgium (probably Germany, Netherlands and Australia as well), we've been hearing this song since about last summer. But it's great news to see it's catching on in America and the UK as well.

I'm very impressed, like I said - if you can replicate Peter Gabriel, you're fine in my book!

Yea he's been all over the radio down here in Australia for quite a while now, he demolished Triple J's Hottest 100, held on Australia day, by getting plenty of songs on the list and also getting number 1 with Somebody That I Used To Know.

I saw this cover before the original...good tune.

I had never heard of this guy until seeing this thread and then last night I went on my Xbox and saw this.

Friend at work got me into them about a week before it started playing the song on the radio atleast 4 or 5 times every day at work... dont really like that song much anymore but Gotye itself is pretty awesome

I prefer this one, but I don't really listen to Gotye much.

Weird, someone posted this on my FB feed just yesterday.. Any way, I agree it is reminiscent of Gabriel, though that might be influenced by the visuals, but it's more directly a rip of XTC..
