    Default Delhi and elephants question

I'm playing as the Ghorids and have captured Delhi (or Dilli as it's called by natives) and am thinking whether I should convert it into a city. Right now it's a citadel, however, me being the Ghorids, I can't really make much use out of it as a citadel except for building elephant units there. So my question is, is it worth converting Delhi into a city, and once it is a city, will I be able to continue building elephants there?

Check the EDB and see if you can recruit elephants from cities.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply check the city tab in the building browser?

Find out what building the elephants come from (might not be stables, it could be the walls) and check.

That's a good idea Dago, I've forgotten about the browser. Thanks

as he says, many aor units are recruitable due to the walls strangely enough... converting may make them unavailable. For instance, converting the greek castle in cyprus makes it impossible to recruit those medium lancers

I've actually found something else weird as well with recruitment of units inside AOR. I was checking my core and border regions and found that in some I could recruit my best units only if I had a fortress or citadel, however, in others I found that the same units could be recruited only if the settlement was a city. I find that to be rather strange.

It's been known since BC 2.02 release (which was in 2009) that there is difference between castles and cities - castles serve miitary purposes mostly, and cities are rather economic centers, in the former you recruit most of the troops, while in the latter you can recruit militia and speamen units.

I understand the overall purpose of cities and castles, just that encountering these anomalies when cities act almost like castles and vice versa is a bit strange. Is it considered to be a bug or part of design?

I think Wudang misunderstood what you're saying, and I'm not sure either... but I know what will fix that! Tell the name of the unit you're talking about, and the city and/or castle that you see you can recruit them in.
