    Default Playing as S.P.Q.R in RTW 1.2

    hi brothers,

    i am playing RTW 1.2 and trying to remove julii, brutii and scipii and want to play as spqr.

    if i give all familes' cities to Senate, i can play the game, but i wanna make those cities (Arettium, Ariminum Capua, etc.) Rebel cities and wanna conquer them 1 by 1. but if i do this (give cities to rebels) when i send my army through the city, game crashes to desktop without any warning. (i mean i cant even see the city)

    does anyone have any idea?

    thanks a lot...

    P.S. as a clue, if i set to play with Julii (Rome is the only city, other roman cities are rebels')
    i can move and conquer former Julii cities. (e.g. Ariminum and Arretrium) but i cant move to Capua, when my army starts to walk through Campania territory, game CTD error
    History would be so empty, if TURKS wouldnt move to WEST !!!!

    Make sure the faction creator of those settlements is set to a faction still inagme, like the senate if you have removed the other roman families.

    tried but didnt work..
    if i give those settlements to another factions (e.g. aretrium and ariminum to gaul and capua,tarentium and croton to greeks) game works, if i make those cities rebel, game CTD..
    couldnt solve it yet...
    History would be so empty, if TURKS wouldnt move to WEST !!!!

    copy all the ciites over to the rebels. Dleet the entyr in julii or whatever it is. Now just leave

    That includes RTR units you know...

    No, i didn't mean give the cities to another faction, i meant edit this line for all the cities:

    If the faction creator faction isn't in the campaign the game will CTD, just change that line to romans_senate for all the settlements, and edit descr_regions.txt so this change is made there as well.

    again didnt work
    anyone any other ideas?

    Have you removed the superfaction senate lines from the other roman families?

    u mean in descr_strat.txt?

    i deleted everything about julii, scipii and brutii, right after i transfered their cities under rebels' cities.
    History would be so empty, if TURKS wouldnt move to WEST !!!!

    The Senate is actually doing a bunch of stuff in monitoring Roman attitudes that the other factions don't do, and modding the game to make them playable renders the whole thing very unstable: basically, the game will crash sooner or later.
    Unless anyone else can point to a mod where using them works I'd suggest going normal unified rome route and keeping only julii but give them spqr units / banners.

    Crash when you're moving into provinces sounds like it's crashing due to having regions.txt rebels that are sub-factions of factions no longer in game, re: your julii example, default for Capua is Campanians which in descr_rebel_factions has:
    rebel_type Campanians //romans_scipii
    whereas the other cities you mentioned have default rebels that relate to only //romans.

    spqr may not, for this purpose, actually count as roman faction - when you give cities in descr_strat to rebels try changing faction creator to something non-roman (pos gauls) and also putting that faction as default faction in regions.txt and a related rebel sub-faction as the default rebel in regions.txt

    ie, pos:

    Capua
    gauls
    Galatians
