Default Severe hiccuping and other issues

The audio is really glitchy, many points when it stops and makes the same sound over and over again. The gameplay is just as bad. Hiccuping every 2 seconds or so, sometimes just a small skip, other times a pause of 10 seconds or more. I've tried it on high and low settings and it hasn't made a difference. I've also tried it with and without v-sync. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Computer specs? Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

Alternatively try a completely clean install - Med II, Kingdoms and Third Age.

Hardware is not the issue, I run Shogun 2 at ultra settings no problem at all, and I did a clean install, nothin.

It can still be worth to re-install.

Just because Shogun 2 works doesn't mean your comp isn't causing the problems. M2TW is an older game and sometimes the newest hardware drivers can cause problems. Maybe you can check if you can rollback to an older driver?

I'm not really sure how to roll back to old drivers or what drivers to use

Go to control panel>Device Manager>Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Click on what looks to be controlling audio, it should be obvious. There should be an option to update drivers and rollback drivers.

And you think this will help all of the stuttering?

Well, I can't say for sure. It's just something to try. It's possible if you rollback it may fix problems with TATW, but it's also possible it may cause problems with Shogun 2. If any additional/new problems occur or if it simply doesn't fix TATW. You can simply either update or rollback again. You may want to try updating first to see if there are new drivers. If there are no new drivers then try rolling back. Or, if there are new drivers and they still don't work you might try rolling back to what you were using and then rolling back again to try an older set. I hope this makes sense. It's mostly just trial and error.

Just in case anybody is interested, Nvidia just released a new driver, v295.73, that may help.
