Iranian-Made Explosive Found In Gaza, Israel "Unsurprised"

Explosive device with unmistakable Iranian trademarks found, dismantled near border fence

Engineering Corps officers have spent the past few weeks studying a powerful explosive device placed alongside other charges near the border fence and meant to target an IDF force. The explosives were successfully dismantled.
The device was found to contain unmistakable Iranian trademarks similar to previously intercepted weapons with Revolutionary Guards stamps on them which had made their way to the Gaza Strip.

A military source from the IDF's Gaza Division explained that the army has previously discovered devices it suspects were manufactured in Iran, but that in this case there was no doubt the explosives were Iranian-made.

"It's interesting but not surprising to find an Iranian device. Most devices are locally manufactured and few are smuggled in. Another 100 or 200 foreign devices will not change the picture," the source said.

The past year has seen in drop in the amount of explosives uncovered by the army in Gaza with an average of 50 explosive fields detected a year. The majority of the devices did not detonate and were discovered by scouts and Engineering Corps combatants and with the help of the Military Intelligence Directorate.

The devices are usually dismantled by a robot unless there is fear it will detonate, in which case snipers or tanks handle the matter. "The device is the least important part in an explosives field. What is more important is how the devices are placed, disguised and activated."

This is concerning. Iran is running a proxy-war against Israel, and with definite proof, yet no one seems to think it's an aggressive move that should be condemned.

This is concerning. Iran is running a proxy-war against Israel, and with definite proof, yet no one seems to think it's an aggressive move that should be condemned.

Its not being condemned because your country started it. It wasn't Iran who was murdering their own nuclear scientists. Your country started this proxy war and now its coming back to bite you.

Umm... Do you have any evidence Israel is responsible for the deaths of those scientists? Or is hyperbole sufficient these days?

This a serious question? Tell me who else could be responsible for the deaths of those scientists besides Israel or the US? I would really like to know because right now it looks like Israel or the US is doing it.

Of course it's a serious question. There is no evidence to suggest either Israel or the US is responsible, apart from Iranian rhetoric.

I don't know who is responsible, and given I've no information that indicates a responsible party, I'm not inclined to make baseless assumptions. I don'd do it in my professional life, and I'm certainly not going to do it on a recreational internet forum.

You're stating its clearly got to be the US or Israel because they don't want Iran to have a nuclear weapon. With an equal amount of evidence (i.e. none) I could sit here and claim that is it Iran itself, knocking off scientists it doesn't need or like anymore in order to a)tie up loose ends, and b) generate propaganda in order to whip up the populace even further.

Without a single piece of solid evidence to go off, both hypothesises are currently equally valid.

Israel is a topic that invokes passion in many people, on both sides. Some people will defend Israel no matter what it does, ad some people will bash it no matter what, both have reiligous similarities.

It's like me saying that all those Israeli diplomats weren't targeted by Iran...

Iran had been aiding Hezbollah and Hamas for a decade or two, way before any of the nuclear scandal started blooming.

Besides, I don't like your claiming that Israel is killing Iranian scientists. Do you have any evidence to support your argument?

Iran had been aiding Hezbollah and Hamas for a decade or two, way before any of the nuclear scandal started blooming.

Hezbollah was created in the wake of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon back in the early 80s. Israeli occupation made the ground fertile for the rise of Hezbollah. Hamas was brought into existence by the help of the Israelis as a counterweight to the then PLO. Its a crazy place the third world.

people get murdered by their own country all the time. Especially a nuclear scientist who was getting a bit chatty chatty to enemies of Iran. Which is basically everyone except for shady countries like Venezuala and ***** and ******* and Syria.

It does sound a bit suspect to be honest, the Iranians are hardly incompetent at involving themselves militarily abroad. Still there's no question that the two countries are hostile to each other.
