Spiders and the Silvan

Okay, so I started a new campaign as the Silvan Elves. I found a bandit general alone in the forest, and attacked. The battle loaded fine, the general's bodyguard unit being spiders. I went to attack, and as soon as my elves met the spiders... crash. I reloaded and tried again to see if it was a one time thing, but nay. Any help?

This sometimes happens when the attack animations are missing but last time I played with spiders they worked fine so it may be a buggy install.

In my current Silvan campaign I've fought about 3 or 4 group of Spiders now and it has been fine every time except once. One battle (the second or third group I fought) it did crash in exactly the same way as the OP describes.

Incidentally I also just want to add that I love the Spiders. They are a pain in the ass to fight, very tough, but add a good new dimension to the Silvan campaign. My expansion throughout Mirkwood has been quite slowed down, which I think is a good thing (in v2.0 the Silvans could easily capture Dol Guldur before turn 20 which made them kind of too easy).

I actually kind of like that the spiders are ridiculously powerful, just glad they don't respawn once you kill them. But didn't Bilbo hack a whole bunch of them in the Hobbit rather handily?

IIRC he got the Ring Power 'on' and have the Sting with him.
Which is specially 'designed' for spidy-pwning.

They are way too OP, 2 units destroyed 5 of my SE units invluding a GB. So I nerved them and made the Elves OP

They are strong, which personally I really like as it gives a challenge. The Elves are OP enough as it is.

As long as you have at least one spear unit per unit of spiders, a couple units of archers should be able to deal with them (with casualties of course).
