    Default Laggy Mod

    I'm just wondering, is there any reason why compared to other mods and vanilla, SS 6.4 is so much slower? I've gotten the vanilla and the kingdoms campaign, along with HHR and KGCM, and all of them, except for SS, run fairly efficiently on my computer.

    It seems to just be a quirk between different operating systems. My SS 6.4 runs faster than my 6.1/6.2 versions by leaps and bounds, yet I've heard many complaining of huge waits during turns.

    If you are experiencing a lot of slowdown, you might want to check the sub mod forums for add-on's that combat the turn times like : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=472685. (I've never used this mod, just the first that came up in the search.)

    is it turn times that are laggy, or the maps?

    im assuming maps...in that case its cause by default ss has settings at high or highest.

    Turn off campaign shadows (campaign map) and turn down anti alasing, unit detail, and grass (battle map) and you should be good to go.

    Vegatation is usually a big problem in battles as well.

    Are you running Byg's Grim Reality version 2 or 4? If you're running 4, then that would explain it.

    Yep, turn time is heavily dependent on using BGR or not, and on battle map shadows are the main culprit.

    If I see one more submod thread with "faster turn times" I'll start shooting people.

    Of what I've seen for now they mainly break necessary\fun features by deleting random stuff.

    To sum it up: campaign AI accounts for 90% or more turn lag, of which tactical AI consumes the most.


    It can and will be changed, I hope to start working on CAI very soon. But it's not SS-only issue.

    BGR will influence it, but stock SS 6.4 script will not cause noticeable delay.

    i usually relate when people say slow=turn times and then lag=performance/slowness of maps etc etc. but i could be wrong....and that could just be me....
