After getting the hang of Crusader Kings and gaining enough money and getting on the Pope's good side, I decided to depose a pretender who somehow got the crown to England. After decimating the King's troops and taking almost all of the English Kingdom, I won the war. This placed William II onto the throne, but I didn't want that to happen. I wanted my Duke to become the King, mainly due to the fact that I don't want my levies being raised every time there's a war with Scotland or France which would cause my Lord's to be disgruntled.

So, is there a way for my character to become the King or is it impossible at the moment?

Is that the only possible way to gain the throne? There's no aggressive way to getting it?

Found it, asked the Pope for permission to invade and after I won the war I took over the crown.

I once used the invasion thing to seize the venetian title and became king of venice.

It's a fun way to get titular crowns.
