There really is no point, except that if you have a lot of offices you will be able to expand longer before the civil war happens.

And you can get some traits by the way (example: If you're FM is a "Pontifex Maximus" he will get +5 influence, and if a FM was a "Pontifex Maximus" he will have +3 influence), also if you have a FM that is a member of the senate, in the right position, you won't be fined (or getting another FM make suicide) by the senate for corruption and similar stuff...

Indeed. Personally I've only had it happen on a few occasions, but I've always earned it by attempting to assassinate family members of either the Senate or the other Roman factions. On my current playthrough, the Senate demanded I kill my faction leader when my favor with the Senate was at zero, and my popularity was high with around 30 cities in my empire. Killing your leader means peace, while refusing to do so (I'm pretty sure every time) means the civil war will start.

Yep...RTW has some really cool details... Refuse to do senate missions and you will start to get missions where if you fail to do them you're family will be investigated (for corruption and stuff) and you might be fined or have one of you're FM commit suicide...
