EB and Steam

Hi everyone, I have been reading this forums for years though I never found a reason to join the forum until now. I have been playing Europa Barbaroum for ages and as a historian and lover of different culture, I find it to be amazing. To be honest, it is the only reason why I still play RTW. A while back I bought the Steam version of RTW Gold because my CDs were getting old and recieving more and more scratches by the day. I downloaded the mod and installed it successfully. Everything worked fine until a week ago when after recieving the latest Steam update I could no longer play the game in Offline Mode. It works perfectly fine while i'm connected to Steam but when I go Offline and try to play the game it says "You do not have a valid Steam subscription for this application [AppID=4760]". I searched everywhere in the forums trying to find a solution to this problem, yet nothing. Perhaps this has already been talked about before, and if so I apologize but I would really appreciate if someone could respond to this giving me an idea of how to solve this problem? I uninstalled/reinstalled a clean version of RTW and it still does not work in Offline mode.

Just to be safe, perhaps another step by step guide on installing EB on the Steam version of RTW would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the information mate, I really appreciate it. I managed to reinstall the game successful and it works perfectly when I play it while connected to steam. However, when I try to play the game in Offline mode I continue to get:

You do not have a valid Steam subscription for this application [AppID=4760]

This is what I don't understand. I bought the game off of Steam, now they're telling me this...it's very important for me to be able to play in Offline Mode because I cannot connect to Steam most of the time (I live in a university dorm where it's blocked).

aight broseidon i have it on Steam in fact today i spent the day making it so i cud play RSII SPQR and EB on Steam which took a lot of tinkiring....but anyways i just want to know how did u do it? is it launched from Steam or did u put it in the RTW folder? if i know maybe i can help further

I installed EB into the Steam folder as instructed. I also launch the game via Steam. It works when i'm logged into Steam, but doesn't when i'm in Offline Mode

wow that is puzzling....i just tried offline mod and it worked just fine...hmmmmm....ok well does it say this in the launch options?

Is Steam VAC activated? Did you Steam save your password? Did you clean Steam's cache between the sessions?

VAC is always active, Its not toggable.

Yesterday I visited a cafe where I used their WiFi to log into Steam and everything worked perfectly fine. When I went back into Offline mode I was back with the same problem. I also noticed that my Elite Units of the East add-on for ETW disappears in Offline mode and ALL of my NTW add-ons disappear. They're only showing up when i'm connected to Steam.

I wrote a support ticket to Steam stating my problem. 5 days later they responded thanking me for stating my concern and that they will get back to me shortly. I checked it again the next day and they had "closed" my support ticket without any explaination.

That's the only problem here: STEAM. I won't be buying any more Total War games in the future if they will be Powered by Steam.

Eh...I just decided to reinstall RTW from my CDS avoiding Steam alltogether and installing EB over that.

To be honest it's better because I can use the EB Configuration to load the game and it's just makes things so much more convenient.

I reopened my Steam Support Ticket in the hope of one day finding a solution to my problem, if something ever happens with that I'll keep you guys informed.

Time to kick the Makedonioi out of my dear Carpathian garden now!

This issue was caused by a recent Steam client update and will require a Steam update to be resolved.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

So...that's that. I wonder how many other people experienced this problem. If so, I hope that they will search the forums until they encounter this tread and find that their questions have already been asked and (sorta) resolved. As of now, i'm waiting for the next Steam update.

Thanks for your help guys, i'll be writing on the forum time and time again when I find something of interest.

*Update*

The latest Steam client update has indeed solved my problem. I can play RTW/EB again in Offline Mode. My MTW works again, and I have all of my add ons for ETW and NTW.

Problem solved.
