    Icon5 Advice for a beginner?

OK the title is a lie. I've played the campaign for over 100 hours. But I recently found out (the hard way) that multiplayer is a lot different than the campaign. Ive been in like 20 matches and iv won 8. I can figure out strategy myself. What I need help with is picking a faction. I don't know what factions are good for the denarii range. In my battles I'll do hammer and anvil, flanking, kiting with archers and yet once the engagement starts i always die. The units i fight route me in literally 10 seconds. I'm obviously picking the wrong types of units. If anyone can give me a short list of what factions and maybe what upgrades are good for each common denarii range. Or just one faction thats just really balanced and i can pretty much play them in any denarri range if i pick the right units.
    thanks!

Makes sure you aren't just focusing on having as many units as possible. A little experience can go a long way.

Experience adds +1 attack and +1 armour. Therefore, it is a valid assumption that experience goes a long way.

It helps but armor can help with arrows because experience is dodging arrows and armor is stoping the arrows
Also there's a reason that we use an ak47 and not the musket even though you may be the best shot in the world and the ak47 could be a compleat newb and they would win 9 times out of 10

    The ak47 just sounds better

@OP - this thread would do way better in the rtw-multiplayer forum (to be found on top of page 1).

Yeah, but experience also prevents units from routing. A unit with 1 silver chevron is less likely to rout than a unit with no chevron at all.

^ He is right. Technically "experience" of the unit in the game also depends on the "experience" of the player using them. You won't need "experience" on your units if your expertise is of the game is so high, your units will never go below "shaken". If you can utilize weapon and armor upgrades, you will kill them before your troops even decide to route.
Cry "Havoc!", and let slip the dogs of war.

hell, the more soldiers the merrier. just choose a faction particularily good against one they're using. if they go barbarian, go cataphracts and archers. if they go rome, go with barbarians or greek-ish peoples. if they go horse-archer-faction, go roman. just pick a faction tht has extra-effective units.
