How does the amount of family members work versus how many territories you have. Like how much each territory will give you family members is what I am asking.

There are numerous threads about this issue. The best answer I can give you is that there is a close correlation between regions and generals. It is not a 1:1 basis. It may be affected by other factors such as faction strength but this hasn't been proven.

On my current VH/VH England campaign I have seen my family growth fall to a crawl. Using Royal Ladies of the Courts mod, I was able to pair up all the sons with wives soon after they came of age. I accepted no adoptions but saw my family tree blow up with births due to all the fertility traits in the families. During this time I conquered the British Isles and turtled up to build up infastructure. By the time the third generation of family members became adults I noticed a drastic reduction in the rates of births within the family. Many of the daughters are also aging rapidly yet are unmarried, and members of the first generation are reaching the end of their lifespans. Around this same time I finally had enough family members to govern all of the settlements and then some.
There are some 4th generation children on their way, but its obvious that the ratio of family members to territorial gains is resulting in a soft cap of sorts. Without further expansion my family tree will succumb to stagnation. Conquest is the only path I have left, and the might of the entire British Isles shall be brought to the forefront in this endeavor.
