Default Are IBSAI and the battle_editor compatible?

I have managed to 'activate' the battle editor function by altering the final line on the IBSAI.exe file to include enable_editor but whenever I go in options, battle editor, and chose a location, it tries to load the map, and then just resumes back to the normal options menu when you start the game.

So I am wondering if it is possible to use the battle_editor and IBSAI or not. Cheers in advance!

Are you putting a - before battle_editor like below:

    "F:\Program Files\RomeTotalWar\Rome - Total War - Original (incl 1.3 - 1.5 - 1.6 patches)\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:SAI -show_err -battle_editor

Yes, I am. And I got it to work (somehow, I don't know how, but I chose 'use default battle' so I used the Siege of sparta) and yet it still went with the terrain I wanted to start with, that is, a mesopotamian one, which I was very happy with.

Having said that, all I want to do is script the AI to basically stay still during battle, but I don't know how to do that. The battle editor seemed quite complicated too... wouldn't even know where to start.
