Novus Ordo Hebdomadum - Reinstalling: A Total War Aficionado’s StoryPillaging and Plundering since 2006
The House of Baltar
Neither is this the dawn from the east, nor is a dragon flying above, nor are the gables of this hall aflame. Nay, mortal enemies approach in ready armour. Ravens are calling, wolves are howling, spear clashes and shield answers
doesn't the battle editor come with RTW..... you just have to use a command to unlock it.

-enable_editor in your command line (within the properties of your shortcut).
do you mean preferences plz tell me where i can find
I've tried -enable_editor on shortcut, as someone elsewhere said it opened map editor, didn't seem to open any new options, does this only work on some versions? or is there somewhere obscure to find it after start up?
That "map editor" is the battle editor, you can create new historical battles using it.

It is the Battle Editor, and you need vanilla patched to 1.3 for it to be enabled. Just type in -enable_editor in the command line, right here where it says all this
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"
And make it this -enable_editor
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -enable_editor
Dont forget to put a space between the .exe" and -enable_editor
To get to the command line, just right click on the RTW shortcut, select Properties, then you will see the Command Line near the top of the box.
That what you wanted?
EDIT: Oh, also, when enabled run RTW, and in the options menu there will be a new option for it.
EDIT: You may also want to check this out, though it is pretty much all i just said. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...762#post993762

hmm, i tested the Battle editor and i found out that you could see the whole island of Sicily from the mountain Etna!, far out man... (vanilla map)
but i have a prob, i cant find the "Port" model, i want to create an port battle...
Ports don't appear on the battle map, there is no port model as far as im aware.

well you can see them pretty clearly in an port battle with very high graphics, its like the ships, i had one shore battle once with an helot of ships at the shore, i could see them clearly, and i saw an 3D model not the regular longdistance 2d model that you are used to see, it just made me curious, i would use them, and maybe someway create an naval battle mod.... just let them act as elephants... and one unit in each...hmm **brainstorming**
If you want to do this with other members then take it to PM or create a new thread for it.Originally Posted by jaklei
