ooc: how is this army moving so fast? does it not take 24 hrs to move in between provinces? and they are travelling from narbo II to cisalpina II thru the alps? meanwhile our legion hasnt moved from cisalpina 1 to defend either II or III

24 hours to sack Narbo II, 24 hours to move into Cisalpina II. That's slow, if anything, mostly due to the mountains.
The movements of the legion are a non-issue, since they haven't had orders to move anywhere
yes except they only sacked Narbo 6 hrs ago
legion movement more a question of what the consul is doing/planning
and i would think they go along the coast like everyone else ... but whatever the RP is..

The legion had no orders and they are already in the province since before the invasion. As for the invasion route, they would follow main roads and coasts yes...but Gauls were different. They would even just go through untamed forests as their means of marching and moving. Plus they aren't as heavily armored as Romans and thus had better mobility. And don't forget the cavalry factor of 2,000...adds to the mobility.

going through the alps is slightly different that following rivers. and they were also disorganized and had to gather/hunt food as they went, so probly moved pretty slow, roman legions were highly efficient at moving, carried enough food for a week with them, the baggage trains could catch up with more food later, especially since they had roads up there.

Actually...the roads haven't been built up yet in this area during this roleplay. Though we follow a lot of history accuracy, not everything is set in stone...such as roads and major ports.
And if the Gauls were disorganized as you say, then it would be so easy to just conquer Gaul...we want to give people challenges and enjoy the roleplay even more. Not just steamroll through everything as if it were nothing...and that wouldn't be fun at all.

either way, i dont think they could be in cisalpina yet.

disorganized in the sense they didnt march like romans. and shear numbers would make it hard to conquer gaul. and even then they did have so pretty big strongholds up there at that time, wooden yes but still impressive. and of course they were fierce fighters

They just entered it. it isn't as if they've been hanging out there for days.
Do we actually declared official war on them or they on us ? Maximus wonders.
Sorry but i think it's pretty relevant.
War isn't formally declared. Ever. This isn't 18th century Europe.
As for posting in war threads, your character can't be several places at once and raise random questions or statements in places where he doesn't belong. You've done this several times already. If your character wants to travel to those places, fine, but you will have to RP that. You can't just magically appear somewhere hundreds of miles away and ask something to nobody.
Ok, So I'm modding, Horica is in charge of the Romans and Sonke the Gauls.
Several things:
1. I'll be posting an update on movements in about three hours.
2. If you have any orders, movements you'd like to keep hidden, PM them to me.
3. all your orders you don't care about hiding can be posted in public in the main war thread, and I will track them that way and tell you how long it will take.
4. Remember, you have to be specific in telling me everything you want to do.
I can post in the ooc thread without traveling right ?
ooc = Out of Character. So yes...
But you originally posted in the main thread.
ah alright but I thought you where referring to here![]()
My bad.
nope, in this thread anything goes![]()
Thank you![]()
