Default Faction living on without regions

    Hello everyone,

Is it possible for a faction to live on without regions like the papal states or Mongols/Timurids?

Is there some kind of mod for this?

    Greetings,
    JeeVeeHa

Mongols/Timurids, yes but you need to kill all their generals. Papal States no since there is always a new pope. Technicly you can ofc destroy all christian factions as well, so there is no cardinals to become pope

    Content's well good, innit.

Yes, you can make all factions able to become a horde.
Baron Samedi did this on his submod for TATW but I don't know how to do it.

The Papal States you can capture Rome but they may ask another Catholic Faction for a settlement. However, they may not get one if their diplomat dies or nobody is willing to give up one. They are still alive in essence that a Pope can be elected. If you destroy all (other if you are Catholic) Catholic factions no Pope can be elected unless you have a Cardinal. As for the Mongols and Timurids, you must capture all settlements and kill (or bribe) all their generals and captains.

They will not ask another catholic faction for a settlement. However, if another catholic faction retakes Rome, they will gift it back to the Papal States. I know this for a fact because it's happened in my game. The Moors took Rome, Sicily counter attacked and gifted it back to the Pope.

If you capture Rome as a catholic faction. (and your not excommunicated)
The pope will ask you to give Rome as a mission.

And you can defeat the Mongols/Timurids if you killed all the family members. They can live without a single region.

I know all this. But can you BE a faction and live without having regions, only family members?
So how do i make a faction a horde or something?

No, when you lose your last region you die and campaign finishes.

I also read in the manual that the Pope askes for factions, but when I destroyed the Pope he didn't, so I stand corrected.

Well i never destroyed the Pope, so i don't know.

Copied everything of the Timurids horde text in descr_sm_factions and put with faction venice.

    Before:

    faction venice
    culture southern_european
    religion catholic
    symbol models_strat/symbol_venice.CAS
    rebel_symbol models_strat/symbol_rebels.CAS
    primary_colour red 121, green 3, blue 3
    secondary_colour red 221, green 176, blue 69
    loading_logo loading_screen/symbols/symbol128_venice.tga
    standard_index 0
    logo_index FACTION_LOGO_VENICE
    small_logo_index SMALL_FACTION_LOGO_VENICE
    triumph_value 5
    intro_movie faction/major_intro.bik
    victory_movie faction/venice_win.bik
    defeat_movie faction/venice_lose.bik
    death_movie faction/venice_lose.bik
    custom_battle_availability yeshorde_min_units 10
    can_sap yes
    prefers_naval_invasions yes
    can_have_princess yes
    has_family_tree yes

    Now:

    faction venice
    culture southern_european
    religion catholic
    symbol models_strat/symbol_venice.CAS
    rebel_symbol models_strat/symbol_rebels.CAS
    primary_colour red 121, green 3, blue 3
    secondary_colour red 221, green 176, blue 69
    loading_logo loading_screen/symbols/symbol128_venice.tga
    standard_index 0
    logo_index FACTION_LOGO_VENICE
    small_logo_index SMALL_FACTION_LOGO_VENICE
    triumph_value 5
    intro_movie faction/major_intro.bik
    victory_movie faction/venice_win.bik
    defeat_movie faction/venice_lose.bik
    death_movie faction/venice_lose.bik
    custom_battle_availability yeshorde_min_units 10
    horde_max_units 20
    horde_max_units_reduction_every_horde 10
    horde_unit_per_settlement_population 250
    horde_min_named_characters 2
    horde_max_percent_army_stack 80
    horde_disband_percent_on_settlement_capture 0

Captains shouldn't be a problem, they don't count. You just need to kill all family members, maybe even all but one.

Yes you can do that. Simple modding is all that is required
You will want to change to horde units to something Venice has.
