What I find hilarious is that people will defend him by saying that regardless of what he does he still brought attention to the environment and that most of his holdings use mostly renewable energies.

Even if the mansion uses renewable energies and is highly efficient it's still a massive footprint on that area.

Plus, does he really need a 9.9 million dollar mansion?

Exactly, in order for him to be a hypocrite he would have had to opposed these things in the first place. Did he ever condemn private jets and mansions? Afaik he has only spoke out against industrialization.

The theory itself isn't, but the man-made disaster and stupid eco subculture and tax and cap certainly is comparable to the typical sometimes of 'adhere to my ways and humanity will be saved' characteristic of cults.
