Australian mag, PC powerplay have a new preview of MTW2. Only 1 new thing is included (well, new to me anyway) but its still an interesting read non the less. With the lack of new info coming in here i though you might like it, so heres a brief summery:
Interview with Dan Toose - Game designer CA Australia
*Individual units do different attack combos & gain momentum. If the defender blocks & counters at the right time he can turn the tide.
*Banners will be different for all units and will also flash different colors to indicate the units status.
*Weather is dynamic - dont expect a downpour before every storm
*players will be able to shape general into what they want much better than rtw, eg chivalry & dread making epic 'good vs evil' clashes
*Enhanced diplomacy, giving better feedback on other factions & keeping memory of things like betrayals etc.
*RPG elements: vices & virtues have been expanded, especially for agents. They are more like characters now & are treated like 'heroes' so your able to keep them longer & customise them more. If you are given a mission by the Council of Nobles to say, assassinate the king of another faction, this would be a particuly tough job, so he might earn equipment like a prototype handgun or false documents that let him infiltrate. If you use one skill over & over again, like in oblivion, he get better at it. There’s also a reasons not to go down one road to hard as you might end up corrupt, or a goody two shoes, which both have plusses & minuses.
*The campaign map is being kept secrete for now
...........................................................
That’s it. the only new thing i saw there was that you can now gather equipment, like hand guns, which definitely appeals to me!What do you guys think?
It also included some new pictures that are not on the web, and in particular there’s an awesome shot of French heavy cavalry charging English arches & getting F*&ed up by the spikes planted in the ground. This tells me that the either the AI is dumb enough to charge into them, or the person handling them made a big mistake. I wish i could scan them for you, but there’s an anti-scanning policy in place here i believe.
hope you enjoyed it
cheers
mike
