Now I'm pissed at the mods...

I have downloaded 4 mods and none have worked. I keep trying tp open The Fourth age mod because I got it but all that happens is this little black box flashes on the screen then disapears again. Will someone help me or at least tell me whats going on? I really want to play this mod!

I'm no expert on these things, but are you sure you installed to the correct directory? Also, are you sure that all of these mods were mod-foldered? The only way you can have multiple mods is if they're all mod-foldered, otherwise the files get mixed up and things don't work. Also, is Rome patched to the latest version? Most if not all mods require that Rome and whatever expansion packs you have be patched.

Yes rome is all patched. And Btw I installed Battles of Asia, but it kept messing up when I played it so I deleted it and got the Lotr Fatw mod, but all that happens is the black box flashes then goes away when I click it.

And sorry about that. My internet gets really messed up on this site and doesn't load my posts sometimes and I even have to repost them every now and again. This time, it loaded all three of my posts. At least it didn't load the other two I posted as well, or we'd have a problem... But I won't post multiple ones and I'll just wait for them to show up.

You might try posting a thread within the forum dedicated to the mod. You will most likely find more people who are able to help because they have likely encountered the same issues you are encountering.

^ That too. And, now that I look at it, making three threads all about roughly the same thing won't make the mods like you. Believe me.

If one of the mods doesn't work, it may be the mod's issue. If all of them don't work, it has to be something's wrong with your RTW.

According to you, BOA was deleted from your computer. But it is NOT a mod-foldered mod as far as I can tell, so how did you delete it? Did you delete your "Rome Total War/data" folder? If so, the mods not working for you is understandable.

I think the best solution now is reinstalling the game.

All I did was uninstall it. I just want to know if my problem with the little black box is normal and if so, how most people fix it. When I downloaded the game, I saved it as whatever it was. Then, when I installed it, I had read somewhere that mods can only be put in this certain folder so I changed it to that. After that, the game had no problem installing. Then when I click to launch the game, The black box (The one that appears before you finish installing the game that loads everything) pops up, then goes away before I can read anything on it.

I can hardly remember BOA has an uninstall and how does it work. But still, I think your RTW folder's got some damages since you got BOA.

Have you tried reinstall RTW?

Reinstall and patch RTW and BI as far as they go, then make a copy of the RTW folder and install a mod in it. Then make another copy and put your second mod in it.

I have four RTW/BI mods this way myself.
