    Happy Birthday Mr. Dickens!

Thank you for all the thrills and emotions and the good times you made me live by reading your stories! You are a great writer!

His books that i remember reading as a young man were The Adventures of Oliver Twist and David Copperfield.

His Christmas Stories (e.g. A Christmas Carol) andGreat Expectations are also golden classics. And i guess there's more that i don't know about.

This thread deserves more attention! Dickens stories may take place in the victorian era but they are of eternal relevance.

I really think the only movie adaption of his work I really like is Roman Polanski's Oliver Twist

Well, I usually find movie adaptations from books very lacking in comparison to the real thing (the book) when i've read it. But of course these are two different kinds of art. Cinema didn't even exist when Dickens lived...

Technically it is a movie interpreted by a paedophile rapist...Allen, Scorsese, Aronofsky and Lynch disagree, but then they are all nihilistic bores.
