I know we have quite a lot of guitarists on here so I thought I would present a challenge and see who could cope with it.

Just so you know at present I am failing miserably.

Anyone got any particularly great pieces of music that are particularly challenging?

(My next one is near to impossible for me "day at the beach" Satriani or something less challenging "gran valse" the nokia tune)

I found Blackbird by The Beatles extremely difficult. I'm not the greatest guitar player but I can play, and this one still frustrates me heh.

I didnt post a tab link for it because there as so many different versions of ways people play it. If anyone has a link to the definitive tab version of Blackbird post it please =)

I'll find it I did my GCSE performance for music on that exact piece.

The chord progressions are particularly difficult but with practice for dexterity the steady rythym of the song makes it feel natural.

Well, Here Comes the Sun, by the Beatles is extremely difficult, probably cause I'm used to playing slow-hand. I also noticed While my guitar Gently weeps to be fairly hard....

Roll Over Beethoven is easier once you learn the beginning... Though, the easiest song I ever learned was Love Me Do... It is only 3 chords!

So, does anyone know of very, very simple guitar riffs? (1-3 chords) My friend has saved up the money for an acoustic, and he wants to learn. I was thinking a simple E, A, D progression ... or Maybe E7, G, A ...

Nice. Thanks El Guapo Thats the tab I was using. I should dust off the 'ol acoustic and get my fingers moving again heh.

Erm...Blackbird's really simple...

Try this solo. Short, but extremely fast.

Beatles songs in general generally aren't that tough, blackbird is the toughest simply because of the finger picking and fast chord changes. Some quite long finger stretchs in there to you have to be quite dextrous to do it.

Easy riffs, well smoke on the water comes to mind.

I first learned the intro to the banjo duel to get my fingers used to playing.

breakfast at tiffanies by deep blue something is a good one for rhythm with simple chords

or a crazy little thing called love.

Purple haze

Oasis is a pot of gold for chord progressions. Wonder wall and don't look back in anger.

Have you tried recuordous de'alhambras yet? It is peeing me off mightily.

Yeah, most Beatles songs are usually easy to play. Just certain songs, usually during Harrison's writings, does it get tough sometimes...

Blackbirds not really simple by any means, unless of course your strumming the chords instead of using the tablature which I noted.

I'll give the solo a try though I hate trying music I can't listen to, whats the name of the tune I couldn't see it?

Alot of people I know who play guitar don't play tabs.... But I do.

Try recuerdos de la alhambra by terrega, finger picking with a tremollo style and tell me its not difficult. Its widely regarded as one of the most difficult pieces to play but one that every guitarist should learn.

I didn't mean that finger-picking couldn't be difficult, I was referring specifically to that in Blackbird (which isn't difficult). I'll look this piece up, though.

Curently Highway To Hell by AC/DC is very hard for me, and i've been playing the guitar for awile. But probably the easiest song that i can play is Aerials by System Of A Down.

I didn't put a tab in, because people pretty much covered those songs very well.
