Default something magnificent! At least i hope so

I just realised something wonderous about this expansion, something so unbelievably joyous i may just download it for the one feature...

    Jungles!

Surely with a map that goes that far into india CA wouldn't still have us fighting amongst conifer trees or desert palms?

Surely they have recreated the monsoon rains, the thick jungle canopy and multiple river crossings that Alexander had to face in a very important part of the conquests.

And with the creation of these jungles - our modders can incorperate them into our projects. I sure hope CA made jungle warfare possible, not only will it be great fun to play in, but as a modding resource it would be so welcome.

Hm... Would surely be cool, but I haven't seen screenies of such jungles yet... Have you? Actually, I dunno, I guess they'll just use the RTW palms.

I really doubt it that CA would actually create an entirely new environment for such a relatively small expansion pack. If they didn't do it for BI, why would they do it for this one?

Because it wasn't necessary for BI. I'm pretty sure they will make somekind of enviroment that is at least jungle-ish.

I severly doubt it, if CA didnt even bother to make a decent map, then i doubt that they will bother to make a new enviroment. And of what use would it be to the modders?

MTW2 might well incorperate jungles, as it has the Americas. But Alexander have jungles? dont keep your hopes up.

How is the map not decent? It's in smaller scale, is that like, not decent?

And look at Southern Greece, its a blob. And the Crimea, its hideous, oh and Rhodes is non existant.
Thats why the map isnt decent.

Please if you dont like something post it and have done, but enough of these endless one men crusades, yawn.

A quick look at your control panel to see your other posts, and all i see is none stop abuse in many threads. All your doing is repeating the same points though. If you dont like the game dont buy or play it, then you will not be disappointed anymore

Modders have been trying for a while to make decent palm trees, but there are not very many of us skilled in making new trees or similar things for an indian environment, and many mods are now covering India in their maps. A few mods have done them, but the trees will not be available for use until after those mods are out.

Shameless self promoter as always prom. So I might as well join in.

But ya, modders have done stuff they just haven't released it. Heck I even have palm trees in the crusades.

Its not difficult to make the trees. however setting up the climates and taking the time to make multiple different types of vegetation like bushes etc. I don't think CA is gonna do that, for something that is essentially a small mod really.

Wow! those jungles are really fantastic. But i can hardly see CA including an Indian faction and India itself without at least attempting a jungle. And if they do it means free jungle for everyone and you guys get too keep your unique stuff unique rather than having me pester you for permission

I'd hope they include jungle, but then again, it wouldnt be more than a graphical thing, since the Engine can't currently manage impassable terrain that well. At least they should have it in MTW2!

The geography of Northwestern India isn't really a jungle environment. There is the Thar desert, and mostly deciduous forests. Actually, India doesn't have jungles in the way most people think of them (i.e. rain-forests, like Brazil or Equatorial Africa). The majority of India's moist forests are concentrated in the eastern part of the country, near the Burmese border and the Northeast states (mostly Assam). Thus, the areas that Alexander had contact with would have mostly been composed of dry forests and highlands/deserts. I wouldn't get my hopes up for "typical" jungles.

Dont forget you are looking at modern India - 2500 years ago, there were jungles there (in the northwest) akin to those in Africa just below the Sarahara desert - and the deeper jungles elsewhere in India are almost like rainforests. That is what a jungle is - a tropical forest - and since the word 'jungle' is Indian, if anything, the tall rainforests of South America are the non traditional type...

    :original:

Its like how what is today Sherwood forest, once covered almost all of Britian - before development of farmland in ancient times through slash and burn.

I dont know how many people saw the Alexander movie with Colin Farrel - no matter what else I can say about that movie - they really captured the feel of jungle warfare in the final segment in India.

A note to various modders - using palm trees alone aint that good an idea, seeing as jungles generally have normal looking canopys like this, with a few palms mixed in:

As mentioned above, jungles in the northwest of India would have been slightly more sparse due to climate. Both pix from India - note how that ancient temple is tragically abandoned without restoration...

I am merely stating the truth. Just because we are the TW fan community dosent mean we have to kiss CAs ass and tell them that all their work is brilliant, when quite clearly its not. Are we not allowed to voice our opinions? Do we have to automatically love and adore all TW products?

And tell me, what am i abusing?

The truth, you havent played the game yet. How can you be speaking the truth. All you're spouting is your own opinions over and over.

As I stated previously, give us your opinion, but dont saturate the boards with the same assumptions and heresay I tend to see.

Dont automatically love and adore their product, but equally it isnt valid to write them off without any basis of fact. It could be good, it could be crap. How can you speak so authoritatively on the subject.

Bashing CA doesnt make you big and clever, have some substance

I agree, it isn't fair to write off CA's work as horrible before we have the final product in our hands. If you want to bash Creative Assembly, atleast be constructive about it. There are many things that I loathe about Rome but I explain my thoughts reasonably and logically.
