Reminds me of that South Park episode in which Eric Cartman was paranoid about China because of Olympics.

Edit: Oh and the girl from the ad is smoking hawt.

True, but irrelevant, but true. But the fact that she does an ad like this makes her less hawt, at least for me.

    Still, would bang.

But anyways, I think its common for politicians to find some scapegoat to earn some cheap populist points. Nobody intelligent would buy this propaganda anyway. Although it is alarming given how relations between US and China are becoming more and more tense.

Well, the ad does peddle racial stereotypes about Asians that in this day and age just seems cromagnon. But whatevs...

Wow, I'm not even Chinese and that was horribly offensive (and horribly inaccurate seeing how China buys US debt because they have to, not because they want to).

Also, couldn't they get someone with a better Chinese accent? She's clearly forcing it .

Some more background: It was shown during the Super Bowl, but only in Michigan.

By extent Michigan is now racist.

Nah, but they're hoping to reach out to the fearful, the paranoid, the bigoted, and the ignorant. Any racists they pick up is just bonus.

But you gotta wonder what it says about what this candidate thinks of GOP voters when this sort of ad is aired during the Super Bowl. Guess he thinks there are a lot of bigots out there for him to pick up.

Blame it on the Urban Decay of Detroit. Either that or the Republicans.

    Why is it racist?

Because he said race? He was talking about a different kind of race. Or is it because it showed an Asian woman in an apparantly Asian country speaking broken English? That would be a stereotype, not a statement that Asian people aren't as good as white people.

Friggin politcally correct crowd is getting more and more illiterated.

I don't think it's racist, but many people conflate racism with bigotry anymore, so much of the criticism is that it is racist. I think it's good ol' fashioned bigotry and does promote hate, so not really much better.

If you think it's only the "politically correct" crowd that mixes the terms up, then you haven't been around much, hell, even on this board.

What the ad is saying is that those damn Asians are takin our juuuuurrrbs! It's an ignorant piece of ad, but I guess the candidate thought it would appeal to his voters.

The message might be a bit off, but damn, the layout of the website is pretty cool, makes being Xenophobic incredibly easy and pleasant.

Hate? It doesn't promote hate at all.

It is sensationalist and plays on the fears of bigots. I suppose it isn't directly hateful, but it certainly does not paint a pretty picture of the chinese.

It's not racist so much as simply rude.

It's as annoying as when in elementary school those kids make the squinty eyes

The fact that he wasn't stereotyping as a joke (which is in many cases not offensive) is what makes it inappropriate. It's like that one mayor who when asked something like, "How do you help the hispanic community", he responded "Well, I buy tacos". Given the seriousness of the issue, it is NOT okay to stereotype.

Yeah, who knew that Clint Eastwood was a secret Obama lackey, and not a Republican as he presents himself? Karl Rove knew, thats who.
