How do I permantly delete a sound mod and return to vanilla sound. I have been having a lot of trouble with crashing since loading new sound mods. I want to go back to vanillia but when I delete the files from data folder game sticks at intro Napoleon screen. I have unistalled the game and reinsatlled 3 times, I have uninstalled from my machine 2 times as well as the three dletes from steam. When I reload and verify cache it says on file missing and will be reaquired but it is never reaquired. HELP!

Yes thats the one and one in the data folder too. I read a post you wrote to some one else about dleting all mods etc and than validating again so I am in the process. firt two times the game crashed then this last time it said 19 files wouldn't validate and would be reaquired. it has been reinsatlling itself for over an hour. so that script file is gone as far as I can see. Im going to give you plus rep for being so helpful, but I will likely still need you. I am not out of the woods yet and my time off is fleeting by rapidly. Murphys law I guess.

Napoleon has been a pain all day. Your hourlong downloading could be part of it.

Since our last communication I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. Doing it again now. I have deleted all files realted to Napoleon twice both under users and under steam apps. Each time after about a two hour reinstall I get the same error. 1 file failed to validate and will be reaquired. Its never reaquired. I bought a registry clean up program after the last uninstall and prior to my current reinstall. I'll let you know but right now it looks like I will never play NTW again unless you know of a solution.

It worked!!!! I just used a registry cleaner before reinstall and it worked! So I did not need the link. But you did say previously to use a registry and I did not own one. Still your adivce, thanks so much!! Now I will begin to put in mods again. Wish I know which one messed me up I could help the modder in question with feedback if I knew but I will give feed back if it happens again. Thanks again my friend, you put me back in the game!

Mods, best advice I can give is one at a time. For some like Darth read the OP very carefully. They have a way that works.

Will do. Tried Darth twice too many crashes, I had to remove from my machine. I had many mods all runing perfect until I added a new experience mod along witha music menu mod. Not sure what happened but I will do one at a time.
Question... If I use mods in NTW will they work if I decided to play as Austria instead of France?

    Irishron,
I really need your help because I have reached an impasse in my attempt to fix whatever is wrong with NTW. I am sorry but this will be a necessarily longer post than you might care to receive. Although I have been a member of this site since 2006 I only began to use the mods from the site about two weeks ago. I am not a modder but I think I would like to learn. In my line of work I find that the best way to solve a problem is to start with complete information that led up to the problem; so here we go.

I was successfully using many mods and enjoying them a great deal. I added some mods that I thought had excellent artwork and the skins but I did not like the unit cards. I asked that modder PdGuru (love his work), how I could change the unit cards. His response was go into PFM and delete the UI files for the mod. He said by doing so the vanilla cards would replace his. That was the beginning of my troubles.
I did not even know what PFM was but I finally found it and opened it and did as he suggested. The result was I am now missing the unit names of all of the units relating to four of his mods as well as one unit from Swiss Halbredeir’s Aum Nap Units mod; (I use his small two rank fire mod). That one unit is the French Marines and it was the only other unit I opened to look at while I had PFM open. I did not intentionally do anything while the French Marine file was open simply viewed the unit card, but the unit name is also missing.
All of the other mod files have unit names except those.
This is what I have tried
I have tried individually deleting and reinstalling each of the mods hoping that a reinstall would replace whatever file was missing. Then out of frustration I have completely uninstalled from my entire hard drive everything related to NTW four times. Each time I attempt to validate the integrity of the files through steam I get a message saying one file failed to validate and will be required. It is never required whatever that file is. I used registry cleaner each time and registry defrag in addition one tine.
So four times I have completely uninstalled and deleted everything including the contents of the creative assembly file under user/at data. I have checked my hard drive doing a search for any files that appear to be related in any way to NTW with each delete and reinstall.
I am completely at a loss and I do not want to keep doing this for the rest of my life uninstalling and reinstalling. I am just an old veteran who would like to enjoy some enhanced gaming.
    I hope you can help

I have not tried modding the WArscape engine, ETW, NTW, TWS2, yet. Time constraints have also ended my Medieval2 modding for a while.

The biggest hanger I have read about is the scripts folder because of the way mods are listed in NTW.

May have nothing to do with it but after deleting both Napoleon folders, reg cleaner, reboot, reinstall, have you tried a fresh download and install of this mod?

I have no answer, then. I'd suggest asking the modder you talked to before. Hemay know more about this than I do.

Thanks anyway. BTW for me MTW2 is the most low stress pure fun experience. I like the Custom Campaign mod 2 by unspoken knight, but its the only mod I treid for that game.

You may be interested in the solution since you are a tech advisor. Knowledge is always welcome to me. I had added Radious experience mod. It doesn't have units but it does have its own LOC file. When I deleted it all the units names came back instanlty. Thats all it was. I do appreciate your help and this knowledge may help you help some one else in the future.

Unspoken Knight's mod was one the first I played before I found a few others. I've been playing and working on this one since before the 1.2 patch was released.

Back on topic. Hopefully you get NTW back running to suit you.

Have you tried the Data Checker?
