    Default Regarding Factions 3.1

    I've been attempting to mod recently without much success in my attempts to add more factions to the game, at first I thought that this was due to me being a newbie at Medieval 2 Total War modding, but recently I heard that it might be something else. When I attempted to add a new faction, I tried to make use of the Aztec slot, but the other day I heard that the reason my mod did not work is due to Minas Tirith making use of the Aztec slot.


    What I was wondering is, if we could get an official list showing what each of the vanilla factions are being used for, as this will help both myself -and- other people who are trying to learn to make sub-mods for this Mod. That way once we know, we won't accidently make use of already used slots.

    Faction Slots:

    Aztecs = ?????
    Byzantium = The Kingdom of Arnor
    Denmark = Custom Settlements
    Egypt = High Elves
    England = Mordor
    France = Isenguard
    HRE = Orcs of the Misty Mountains
    Hungary = Palantir Script
    Ireland = Custom Settlements
    Milan = Rohan
    Mongols = Silvan Elves
    Moors = Dwarves
    Norway = Custom Settlements
    Papal States = Dark Lord of Mordor
    Poland = Custom Settlements
    Portugal = Orcs of Gundabad
    Russia = ?????
    Saxons = ?????

    Scotland = Dale
    Sicily = Gondor
    Slave = Bandits
    Spain = Harad
    Teutonic Order = Custom Settlements
    Timurids = The Fellowship

    I'm not sure, but Hungary is used for the palantir script

    So if you wanted to add more factions it looks like that from that list, the factions not currently being used are:

    Thanks for the list! Unfortunately those ones which are seemingly unused could be being used for other scripts, cities, forts, etc. The first post now has a list of all the different ones that are known, and highlighted the ones which are not. I'll edit it as people supply information.

    My aim was to split the Silvan Elves at first, then to split The Dwarves and Orcs of the Misty Mountains. Eventually I wanted to remove the autonomy scripts and have mini-factions of The Shire, Trolls and Fangorn.

    I think you can say that the ones in expanded are used, but I'm not completely sure as I havent really fiddled with the files yet

    Some factions are used for for unique settlements, and are thus not useable. Those are: Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Poland, teutonic_order and the timurids (also used for fellowship)

    Thanks for the info! I heard that the Aztecs may be being used for custom settlements also. Any idea if any other factions are being used for scripts?

    Is it possible to make the Greek / Elves Settlement available in custom battle?
    Like they did with the custom culture and gondor culture (Osgliath)

    edit: There are some weird hard coded limits with the greek culture. They're not in custom battle in vanilla either. Same story for the orcs (eastern_european)

    Aztecs were used in 2.1, but not anymore in 3.1. Only hungary is used for scripts
