    Default Fighting in Homs (Syria)

While at work i saw on the news that at least 200 have been killed so far in the Syrian army's shelling, which seems kind of low if it's been as intense as they made it sound (this is a very densely populated area IIRC), then again i'm sure accurate reporting is very difficult there at the moment. I'm wondering is this the beginning of a Hama type offensive by the government or are they just trying to scare people there?

if you believe what the government allied media in our countries are telling us, the assad gov. is massacring its own people with blood running through the streets waist high and offering blood sacrifices and orgies to Cthulhu

The question is; is it indiscriminate shelling or not?

Irresponsible, either way. Look at an aerial map of Homs.

who cares, shells are shells; and ppl die in war, it's just how things are; just ask the Pentagon chiefs when they're quizzed about Pakistani collateral damage from drone strikes-and those are supposedly guided munitions

Do you honestly think the Pentagon would waste ammo by indiscriminate bombing, without knowing they would even hit anything? No, they are more precise than that.

happens, that's why we live in a world of FUBAR. Even the most accurate guidance systems have incurred collateral damage.

getting back to the issue of syria, who cares if they're shelling rebels? noone gave a about Bahrainis getting turned into hamburger when the saudis marched in and medical staff who treated the protestors were arrested, imprisoned, and possibly tortured. Think Hilary 'freedom of the internet' Clinton spoke up when the home of the US 5th fleet was erupting into its own arab spring and the saudis went in to kerbstomp some shia protestors?

all this media hype is supposed to get the public to support another Libya 2.0, well looking at the wonderland that Libya is today, we can just see the sort of 'freedom' that's promised to these arabs: anarchy, rape and lawlessness that comes from civil war.

I hope you understand that as soon as a dictator is overthrown by revolution civil war and destruction does not stop straight away. Its going to take months and probably years for us to see how Libya will turn out.

It has a lot more to do with political/econjomic interests of Western powers. Bahrain was much worse than Syria and Libya put together, bu Western nations did not "intervene" because the regime there is more or less pro-Western. Same thing with Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Qatar - if you are convenient for US and EU interests you can oppress people as much as you like.

Yes, but we don't know if the Syrian army is even aiming or just shooting indiscriminately.

It isn't clear wether they are shelling indiscriminately or not, and even if they are:

It is quite obviously the best solution is handed Syria and Lebanon back to French hand - despite my dislike of French I still think French can rule that region better than Arab.

Good luck to the people of Syria. Asad will soon meet his fate and pay for what he has done.

Hopefully, rulers of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Qatar and Israel shall share the same fate.
