    Default modding politic

I just watched this video and wished that creative assembly would have the same idea for the total war games, or atleast the older ones like M2TW, it would be so awesome

    But the reality is different
I think supporting modding would increase sales of the total war games, for example i only bought kingdoms because i saw the first previews of TATW and it was worth it!

Jesus was nailed at the cross, Thor has got a hammer. Any questions?

Well, yeah, but only if they made the new games moddable too, otherwise people would just play the old ones with mods. As it stands, there is no reason to buy any TW game except to play the mods. I only have Medieval 2, and I don't think I'd still be playing it if it wasn't for SS, TA, BC and TLK.

That's not entirely true, k/t. People play the old games because they have strong modding communities and have far less heavy requirements than the new TW games (especially Shogun). If ETW had a strong modding community I would be playing that instead (I absolutely love the naval combat). However, ETW is far more CPU-intensive than MTW, so there's that problem again.

Compare this to Skyrim and Oblivion, where the Oblivion modding community, in full, transitioned to Skyrim. Skyrim is now the dominant game of the TES series.

Blind modding is risky. One must have faith in Steam. So only a Steam-fanboy can be a modder, which does not fear much working for free and suddenly see his work useless as he does not own the game he works on.

Anyone can be a modder regardless does he own Steam as long as he/she has access to the game files. Steam only offers a quick way to share/download mods and it is not a requirement to use the new modding tools.

As far as DRM goes, Steam is by far the best alternative.

I'm so jealous. I guess I'll have to start modding TESV . It doesn't look so hard with that tool.

CA, Y U NO do such a thing with the new engine (which the next game hopefully has)?
