    Default Cuba

Hmmm... I am fairly sure that these Gingrich threats of covert operations against the Cuban government is just an attempt to look strong on foreign policy and probably nothing would change under a Gingrich presidency.

What if that does happen though? From what I can tell the Cuban people still like the Castros for the most part, US military action would just antagonize them, nothing could do more to stir up anti-US sentiment for Cubans than for the US to do what Gingrich is suggesting.

With Cuba and China expanding relations and drilling for oil, I think Cuba may become a little more important in the years to come.

I don't really believe that the Regime is ''broadly approved'', it's just that Cubans are either scared or dissillusioned, like every other Totalitarian government the regime inserted itself in the more micro areas of society in order to control and coerce anyone who oppossed it, while at the same time, maintaning a foreing policy of victimization that has allowed for it to survive the usual fates of Rogue States... occupation.

In short, with no foreing intervention and a strongly seated regime the Cubans don't act due to inability not love for their leaders.

Indeed, it would be folly to think the widespread popularity of the 60s is still intact today.

While some on the left enjoy say so, Israel doesn't equal America. Indeed, Israel may and most likely will try an attack, it doesn't mean the war-weary, heavily indebted USA will follow. It would be political suicide and every pollie will know this.

It has to do with some issues during the Cold War. Its over now though so i think the US should be trying to seek better relations with Cuba.

Its more simple than that. For Republicans Commies are Evil and Cuba is still Communist so they are evil and we should bomb them. Plus it allows Candidates to create an enemy or fear and project their expertise in foreign policy when running for office. Just bash cuba and your look tough on foreign policy.

Its not pro-global market extractive ecomy. Corporations are not making enough money without exploiting them.
"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

Lol, I told Teddy it was much cheaper to hire Spanish to be our backyard guard instead do it ourselves, but Teddy insisted to chase our Spanish guards for little glory... Now look at what mess we have in our backyard.

Does this mean if Newt were to get elected we'd have to endure ten years of TW's finest warning us of imminent war with Cuba and Iran? That alone is enough reason to vote Romney.
