shogun total war installation issue
hello,
i've been trying to install shogun total war (the original) onto my new computer. when i put the disk in, it comes up with the open folder thingy, which i do. Usually their is an exe to click to install the game. But the options i have is a folder with an uninstaller, a folder with some of the movies in it, and a couple of backgrounds along with a rar file. So i click on the rar file, and i then get a pop up saying that its an unrecognised file type.

Re: shogun total war installation issue
Install 7zip or Winrar and it will open it.
Winrar has a free version that works and 7zip is free.

Re: shogun total war installation issue
i have both 7zip and winrar. It was winrar that told me it was an unreconised format. I haven't tried 7zip though, i'll give that a go.
edit; no, 7zip doesn't like it either. tells me it can't open as archive.
by the way, i'm reasonably sure the disk works. Its the only disk i've ever had of shogun, and i've played the game many times before. using this disk.

Disc dirty and/or scratched? The only things I know that would keep it from working.
Edit: Dumb question, signed in as Administrator and Run asAdministrator?
