Will there be ragdolls? They would bring some bad-assery into the game! Imagine seeing a mounted warrior slinging off of his ride and tumbling with accompanying nasty cracks as his bones get crushed

I seeiously doubt it as MIITw is using an enhanced version of the RTw engine, and adding in something such as ragdoll psychics would probably require anew engine.

Wrong in what way ? They have stated that they are using a modified version of the RTW engine for MTW2.Originally Posted by suckah

Well they certainly wouldn't need a new engine for ragdolls. They could license an existing ragdoll-engine and incorporate it into their game easily.
I think he means you wouldnt need to make a new engine to add ragdoll physics.

Well alright no you probably wouldn't, but incorporating one in would require a lot of extra work, thoug hi wouldn't be surprised if ragdoll physics are in the TW game AFTER MIITW.

Once developers find a way to incorporate ragdoll with thousands of bodies without the computer dying, then it will happen.

Lets not lengthen or complicate MTWII any further.. I'm more into being able to see the years go by, not turns
It would be seriously awesome to see a formation of infantry get mauled by a cannonball... yum.
From what i've seen they have added new lighting which is much more realistic (like most modern games).
I have also heard that they are including normal mapping(like most modern games), though this doesn't seem present on the units in any great degree, though it being included would present limitless possiblities for modders. Considering this you would think that they would aim to have a rag doll engine of some sort too, just like most other big modern games.
It is an interesting point as a ragdoll feature would clearly have uses in a game with lots of projectiles and bodys that are going to get hit by them and in many cases fall into other bodies or off something from quite a drop. It would certainly make the game, but after all the attention they have given the animations for units attacking each other they may just stick with set animations for falling and flying too.

Thats why ragdool is so cool in FPS games, on instant kills the body just collapses like RL
Dear god, I could imagine a ragdoll engine, men flying off the sides of walls after being hit by a cannonball would be awsome!
BUt I know that won't happen, people's computers probably couldn't take itand I think you would have to get a new engine or just heavliy modify the existing one.
Well, they did add a new lighting engine and normal maps. I'm sure it would be easy for them  - but the question is if it would be worth the extra resources.Originally Posted by Sh4zbot
I'm upgrading my comp for this beast anyways... I can't wait for MTW2. It's gonna kick so much ass.
I never thought of ragdoll physics being put into a Total War engine. That would be interesting! However, as others have said I would expect it to be pretty CPU intensive. This would be a great feature for a future TW release...

At the moment id rather have dozens of spectacular and well done death animations than someone simply going limp and falling over like a sack of potatoes.. Admitedly though it would probably look nice in relation to artilery explosions but thats about it as far as im concerned
The body collapses, but something just doesn't seem right about the weight. The limbs twist and bend in the opposite or unrealistic directions, which granted could happen if you were to hit somebody with a cannonball. But in Oblivion, you whack a guy with a sword, he collapses and his knees will bend completely backward.
It's a nice idea...but when they say "ragdoll" they really mean "ragdoll".
A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side.
