So was Cleopatra - pity about the missing 2 hour footage.

I will check that 300 spartans movie. Spartans fighting the way they should with bronze cuirassess made me get interested. Ben Hur is extremely good, I have so many different emotions in that movie. I think the fall of the Roman Empire is little boring but it is an interesting movie. Saprtacus is great. I love the way they portray the disciplined ranks of the roman army. The battle scene is just great, all the cohorts marching and getting ready to kick some ass. I dont remember seeing that in any other movie about the genre.

I've seen it and it is a good movie. I think I remember that they did fight properly and the story is similar to the historical story.

Ben Hur is one of my favorite movies. If y'all didn't know, it's out on Blu-ray and what they've done to make it look and sound better is absolutely terrific.

Still plenty I need to see from these, I only saw Spartacus and Ben-Hur from this list.

Not on the list but from this era, I also watched Julius Caesar. Quite nice with a good performance from Marlon Brando, but at some points it gets a bit longwinded. Probably to be expected since it uses the exact dialogue from Shakespeare as far as I am aware.
