    Default Good Mod, Except...

It's obvious that a lot of thought and effort went into RTR 7. Congrats on a job well done.

However, the business with running family members back and forth to Rome constantly, losing abilities when leaving settlements/territories...detracts from the game in my opinion, and is ant-realism. I like to play the game, not spend turn after turn moving a general all over the place because he's the one who won't lose his abilities by stepping across a colored line on the map.

Commanders don't suddenly forget how to lead and command just because they cross a line. The concept is not based in realism.

An army commanded by a veteran general, and having a 5:1 advantage, should not flee like little girls after 5 seconds of engagement (if they even got that far before being too frightened to continue) with an enemy that is not even commanded by a named character.

Again, the effort and work are obvious. It just has a couple game-breakers for me, personally.

I love the system, it's the main reason I'm still playing .......

You have a very easy option if you don't like the leadership system, disable it.
The launcher gives you that option.

Then maybe what I really need to do is figure out how to get it work with Steam.

The mod works fine. But the patcher "fails to find Steam." I'll search around and see if I can find any solution. It's a very good mod, but I would love to try playing with the leadership off.

Hmm, i think a simpler solution would be to close down steam and Delete the Clientregistry.blob file, i do it when my RTW Messes up.

    Disabling the system
The launcher has an option to disable the system. This is as yet not functioning as intended. We will include a fix in our first patch.

For those who cannot wait, attached to this post (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=478149) is an archive called RLS_switch_repair.rar. You will need to extract and overwrite
    1) export_descr_character_traits.txt to the RTRVII\data folder.
    2) descr_strat_NO_RLS.txt to the RTRVII\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion folder
    3) rename descr_strat_NO_RLS.txt to descr_strat.txt (remember to always keep back-ups of files you overwrite or rename)

When operational, it will allow you to start a new campaign without the system. It will not allow you to switch it off mid campaign. The effect of switching off the system is to completely remove it.

Hey there, Not to ninja this thread, but I had a question and I didnt think it warranted a separate thread since it has to do with the family/trait system.

If I disable that system via the launcher, but don't use the launcher to actually launch the game (it doesn't work for me, so I have to click the direct launch icon) will it still be disabled for me?

I don't share the OP's sentiment exactly, I merely wish it disabled as it is a new feature which would require time and effort to understand and master, and I'm really just trying the mod for the first time and want to just get a general feel for the basics.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

not entirely certain but i would guess the launcher disables the leadership system by swaping the export_desc_traits file with one that doesnt include the system so it should still be disabled the way you run the game in theory

It swaps descr_strat.txt. There are different versions of the file. If the traits aren't present in the DS, the system won't activate.

It's not fun winning with Rome every time.. It's hard enough to lose basically any battles in TW whether vanilla or modded even on VH settings except maybe being outnumbered 3 to 1...
