    Default Getting well-known generals

Is it possible to get Generals like Hannibal, Caesar, Vegitorix (sp, w/e.), Mark Antony, Crassus... ect. Is there a possible way to get these generals? A friend told me you can probably get them, and he guessed that the only way was to just get lukcy...

So, is it possible? I want a Hannibal, really bad. A Hamilcar (Barca) would be great as well.

You can always edit names and the descr_strat file so that you begin a campaign with one of these men as your Faction Leader. This is not my area of expertise, but I think that can be easily done and it will guaruntee you have those leaders in the beginning.

I dont think you can get them to appear in the game without modding the files, and if you do that then it is just random, I dont think you actually get a real Hannibal, just a guy with that name.

Generals with names like that do randomly appear thoughout the campaign as those names are in the default list of names for some factions.

Oh, and your sig is too large, 468x100 is the max size allowed.

orange slice, some do. I've had a captain Hannibal, a family member Hanno, a Vercingetorix.... can't remember the rest.

Vercingetorix definitly exists. He was a rebel captain with a puny army. I crushed him under the weight of my army..

Historical characters do not appear in game. They can only appear as starting family members. After that, the family members born and named are totally random. Yeah, you might see a Vercingetorix or a Gaius Julius (such a historically terrible way to name roman characters: Caesar's dad was also Gaius Julius Caesar if I'm not mistaken, techically Octavian inherited the name too. Not to mention *every Scipio was named Publius Cornelius Scipio then EARNED a cognomen) here and there, but its not *the* vercingetorix - he fought and died in the first century BC, which is farther into the game than most people play, on top of that, he led a gallic revolt which would be nearly impossible to emulate using the RTW engine as it is without huge scripting. Even then, I'm pretty sure only the revolt would occur : not the character vercingetorix, and not only that, it'd require that the gallic faction survive until 50 BC. That is laughable in unmodded RTW, nigh impossible.

Case closed unless anyone dares refute me
