    Default The 4 armies campaign?

I think this would be a good idea for a mod for the game or A DLC like add-on to be made if any one wants to make it?
    First things first
This is a new campaign mode that takes place just after a re write version of the battle of the five armys from "The Hobbit". Basically the rewrite is that the armys didn't join together to fight off the goblins and that the battle endded in a withdraw with all forces. Its called the 4 armies because the eagles were slaughtered in this battle.
the map is smaller then the normal campaign. The map stops at isengard and doesn't enter the Rhun area
You have 4 sides to pick from
Men of dale:Starts with 1 town (dale) and have great archers. They do not train horse men. they only have one leader at start which is their king. You make large amounts of money from trade with Rohan (Rohan only owns a small town on the map and can be taken easily to stop the trade)
Dwarves of Lonely Mountain: The dwarves have 2 towns and are the richest faction.
The can train heavy armored troops, Donkey riders (Hobbit son donkeys. slower then normal cav and weaker but still are decant in their own right), and Sherifs (50 hobbits with sticks that are great against militia and archer units)
Mirkwood Elves:Starts with 3 towns in mirkwood just west of lonely mountain. great spear men. cant make heavy units.
Goblins of misty mountain: Starts with 4 towns. Great light infantry. cant make heavy units. Uses goblins warg riders and wargs by them selves (weaker but faster then warg riders)

    Thats just a ruff draft
    what you think so far?

Oh those are great comments for someone who just joined TWC

This idea sounds a little hard to fully comprehend... Not the way it's written, but the idea itself. My biggest question is: why? It sounds a little too 'west vs east' imo

But... If you like it, then my advice is to learn how to mod and turn it into an actual submod

Not really since illathid got most of the ideas, I didn't even wanted to get to much involved in the ideas process. But now I think I'm going to start some scripting for angmar, because I completed my C++ and matlab session last semester, so I think I have some skills in prog.

If the team decided to add a secondary campaign, there are so many scenarios that would be better to add than this made up insane scenario of yours.

I thought the same thing. Not really nitpicking though as this would mean that the title should be Five Armies after all.

Anyway, this would be an ambitious project I think. Making a whole new campaign map, balancing of the factions, etc. etc. And if built from TATW files then sifting through and removing all of the stuff that is not relevant. If you can find someone to do it - or if you do it yourself of course - then all the best.

While the idea is interesting, i think the project should be more focused. Honestly i don't think it would be useful to use such an expanded map, that goes all the way to Rohan. The map should be limited to the very northeastern part of the map, going from the Misty Mountains on the northwest to Rhùn on the northeast, and from beorn's halls in the southwest to the southern shores of the Sea of Rhùn.

More little settlements should be added, of course, mainly for Dale, representing the scattered but still not-to-be-ignored population of the countryside.

    About factions:

    - goblins would start strong but scattered: they are recovering from the Great War against the dwarves. The Great Goblin killed by Gandalf was one of their leaders, that was trying to gather its forces and block the passes in the Misty Mountains. They start at war against all good factions.

    - dwarves would have only a few settlements in the Iron Hills, where most of their forces would be concentrated. But a strong army will start the scenario just west of the Misty Mountains, and will fight his way to the Lonely Mountain. It should have 1-2 Hobbit units to represent Bilbo. When the army arrives at Erebor, an event will maybe form a scripted battle like in the book, maybe?

    - dale will start with few forces, a number of little villages scattered between the Mountain, Mirkwood and Rhùn, the rich Esgaroth city, and Dale itself.

. Mirkwood Elves will start with Thranduil Halls and a few outpost in the forest, that would be infested by evil creatures. When the dwarven army crosses Mirkwood, an event could decide if the Elves tries to attack the Dwarves. If yes, the Elves won't show at the Battle of Erebor to help the Dwarves and Dale.

    - Vale of Anduin faction, with some settlements in their valley. They would be allied of the dwarves but would spend most of their forces to protect themselves from the goblins of the MM. A little army of their will show up in the Battle of Erebor.

    - Rhùn should be added as a faction, starting as neutral but with an event that could bring it into war if Dale and the Dwarves reform the Kingdom of the Lonely Mountain and the (kingdom?) of Dale.

That would be an interesting campaign, but a very long and hard work.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.
