    Default An Ad idea!

So far I think we are off to a great start with a few exceptions: I would like to see more non-curial roleplaying going on and more of an established populist movement, but my buggest concern is membership. I've always said I will play TRS by myself if I have to, but let's face it, the game is more fun with more people. A lot of you have told me you discovered the game from the front page, so I'm hoping we can do the same thing again with a fresh batch of players.

By the end of this week I want to have a nice ad to request be placed on the frontpage to draw more attention to us. I'm not really an artist, however, so I wanted to ask for some help. Anything creative or fun that could be included to the ad would be nice, especially graphics.

As it stands the issue with any possible populist movement is mimicry. A few people are leaning, strongly, one way and everyone else seems to be falling in line.

As far as graphics go I'm in the same boat as you Ponti, at the same time anyone who is considering doing this needs to remember to represent the game as it is, a rather small but active forum based RPG with mild strategy elements, as opposed to some magical goliath of gaming that stuns the senses.

    Moderation, in all things.

    Perhaps a banner

    Have you wondered
    What would have happen
    In ancient Rome
    If you had been Senator
    Whether the republic would survived
Or would the Empire come earlier
    Then join us
    The Roman Struggle awaits you

I like that a lot, actually. Does anyone know how to make a large banner like that?

I know how to make it but I thought that each line is replaced every 5 seconds with next in a small baner 600x200px basically gif image, or I can make it into singel baner with some Roman flags and this text

Both would be great, actually. The larger one for the front page ad and then a smaller one we could put in our signatures if you wouldn't mind taking the time to make them.

No idea, frankly. Maybe check the dimensions of some of the larger images in front page ads and stick to the same size?

I've done banners before for YATS but I don't think I'd have time to do it this time. However, I can try to work on something related to TRS for the next Silver Shield issue, if that's ok. Advertisement is advertisement after all

I'm still in the process of writing an article on RPG creation, don't ask for an ETA at this stage, but maybe we could pitch the concept of an entire SS issue based around the RPG section as a whole?

That would all be very nice indeed

    Just a grammatical note:

    Have you wondered
    What could have happened
If you had been a senator
    In ancient Rome
    Would the Republic have survived?
Or would the Empire rise earlier?
    Then join us
    The Roman Struggle awaits you

Going to send this stuff in today. I'll leave a draft of the final ad in here for your viewing pleasure. Seems we've had a 50% drop off in interest since last week based on the nominations thread. It always amuses me to note who drops out after week 1, history always seems to repeat itself.

Total War Center's RPG News: Developments, Restarts, and Unique Player Opportunities!

Total War Center's RPG section has undergone some changes. Two of the largest games, God Save the King! and The Roman Struggle have recently or will soon be restarting. This is a great time to check the games out and get in on the action while the games are young.

    The Roman Struggle

The Roman Struggle explores the tumultuous political and military atmosphere of the Late Roman Republic. The Roman Struggle is currently underway and looking for dedicated players, armchair senators, and anyone looking to recreate the drama of one of the most politically turbulent times in history. Earn the respect of your fellow Senators by performing great feats on the battlefield, use the mob as a tool of political revolution, or raise your own legions and make a bid for ultimate power.

The Roman Struggle is a late Roman Republic era RPG that strives to offer players an opportunity to control the fate of the late Republic. With various tools at your disposal, you can advance your agenda in a variety of ways and to whatever end. Will you work to preserve Rome's ancient traditions or attempt to overthrow a corrupt ruling class?

On behalf of the game leaders I would like to welcome any interested members to the game, we hope to see you soon!

    God Save the King!

GSTK is TWC's longest standing RPG set in Medieval England. The restart will take the game back to the times of the Norman Conquest. With internal political tensions running high, the church aiming to secure ecclesiastical dominion, and the threat of invasion from unfriendly foreign kingdoms, players will have a lot on their plate from day one regardless of the path they decide to take. The game boasts an active and thriving community and unique gameplay that allows prospective players to choose between two paths: temporal or ecclesiastical. Although set in historic medieval Britain, creativity is the name of the game. Player-generated characters and events coupled with a loose historical timeline allow the players to determine the course of them game.

Could Raglan do any better for a GSTK image?

Regardless those are both very good.
