CD spinning while tray is open

Over the past few months my CD drive has been behaving quite badly. It used to skip music on a CD, but thankfully that doesn't happen anymore. Occasionally when I pop the tray out, the CD will get stuck in it and go back in. But just a moment ago when I opened it again, the CD was still spinning. Is it time to replace the drive before any possible harm happens to my discs?

I'd say yes, the cd should definitely stop spinning before the tray opens...if it doesn't scratches will happen...and getting caught like you described can lead to cracks or bending...which are also bad...time to dish out a few dollars for a new drive.

teag, i got that once or twice on a laptop drive - if it does it again then replace it it maybe just a 1 off (I was poor i couldnt replace it)

Might even be my chance to upgrade to a DVD drive. Can you guys recommend a good one?
