Explorers Guild ?

Hi, does TATW have explorer guild buildings ? I have just built one in Imladris but the text of the building seems old. Maybe I made a bad install ?

I purposely did not answer his question so he will learn. Ah! I remember when that was me posting those one question, one answer threads and people will get mad at me. Geez that was such a long time ago, I was so young. I can't believe it's been almost 5 weeks now.

I'd much rather not have to scan through loads of irrelevant questions/answers to find what I'm looking for.

It helps if you search to see if someone has a similar issue/question first, but I'm all for having separate threads to deal with specifics, that way someone can answer a month or so down the line and their possibly helpful answer won't be lost in a mire of other issues.

The thread linked above already has 411 pages.

The point is, you can search in that thread using the search tool using key words from your question to see if it has been answered before. And after a quick search, if nothing comes up, you can ask there where there are plenty of people with the knowledge to help, even if it is a repeat question they'll usually be glad to help. Noone expects you to wade through 411 pages.

I didn't say that because you didn't answer his question, I did not expect that and neither did I do that, but a simple "Please ask questions in the Questions thread" would do. There is no need for posts that add little to the discussion, as my post is quickly heading. You know the old phrase "If you have nothing good to say, don't say it at all."

It's odd that you ask if TATW has this building, but states that you have built one. I believe you've answered your own question. If the wording isn't quite what you'd expect for Middle Earth, that's probably because there are still remnants of vanilla that the TATW team hasn't gotten around to updating yet.

But in my experience the explorer's guild works, providing ancilliaries to generals who spend time in settlements where this guild exists. I'm not aware of any other benefits of the guild.

On another note, I realize that people always moan about these many threads, and direct forumites to threads like "ask questions here." But honestly, threads like Ask Questions Here have turned into rather incoherent barfing receptacles, IMHO. Have you ever tried to run a search against such threads? The thread gets referenced that has the result you're interested in, you click on it to see your result, and are presented with page 1 of often 100 or more pages random discussion! It's quite impractical for searches, and so many questions just get lost in the black hole of those threads.

I realize moderators like them, because such threads simplify their duties, which I can appreciate. But the threads are allowed to grow without limits, and after a while, they just aren't friendly to peruse in order to find answers to questions previously addressed by the community. I wonder if I'm the only one who feels this way.

i totally agree with you, i usually look at all topic in 'bold' on the forums here and cow regularly, but i purposefully avoid the nuclear reactor of the questions and suggestions threads, and the drivel poetry of the thread wars thread.
