Outside the temple of Jupiter in the forum, Lucius has prepared for the marriage of his daughter to Praetor Regulus. Of course, every senator had been invited and although not a public event, patrician status lent some flare of a festival-like atmosphere. The ceremony was short- Maximinus would simply deliver a pre-arranged list of formal declarations of the rights and virtues of women, and particularly his wife. Livia would then be delivered by Lucius and promise to remain faithful and to produce children. This ordinary wedding would be punctuated by a large feast. After the ceremonies the wedding procession would then meet in the gardens of the groom for a large feast. The ceremonies would begin shortly, presently Lucius waited for the arrival of his daughter in a litter. He greeted acquaintances as they gathered to witness the ceremony and wish the couple a happy marriage
